I was using a Diaper Dekor which cost about $40.00 it came with a scented continuous bag that you would fill and cut the bag with the built-in cutter and tie it shut and tie a knot on the other side to form the next bag it had an odor flap in the top and the lid was opened with a foot pedal well the continuous liner bags are a rather expensive well the Diaper Dekor will work with 13-gallon tall kitchen trash bags so I started using the Walmart Great Value scented trash bags and the work fine well the Diaper Dekor is poorly made the first thing to break was the odor flap broke off and the door wouldn't stay shut well I put up with this for a few years well I started shopping for a new diaper pail well I looked at many different pails and compared prices and capacity I even looked at the Akord and even some of the infant pails like the Ubbi well with capacity and prices I didn't really see anything I wanted what I wound buying was a Mainstays 13-gallon stainless steel trash can with a motion sensor lid I used the scented trash bags and on the inside of the lid I have a little tree Black Ice air freshener taped to the lid with packing tape and the trash can was only $40.00Mainstays 13.2 gallon stainless steel trash can and the stainless steel looks much nicer

@MikeD9876 thanks for your advice.

Yeah, it’s pretty wild. I knew I produced a fair bit of urine overnight prior to starting wetting, but wasn’t aware of how much it was until I did my bladder diary. More often, it’s between 500-700ml. The higher end happens if I have a couple of beers in the evening (rare).

I had a look at the photos you referenced. Do you find that set up uncomfortable to sleep in? I’d be more willing to try washable products if I didn’t have shared laundry facilities. (It was an oversimplification for me to say that I reside alone. I am single and sleep alone. I live in a large share house and have the privacy of my own bedroom, toilet and bathroom, which is great for the morning clean up, but not so great for the daily sheets/ mattress protector of shame on the clothesline situation.) My housemates probably already know I wet based on the contents of my washing line, but I would never hear the end of it if they knew I was wearing nappies to bed.

Do the washable last that you use look like cloth nappies, or just sheets of cloth? I.e. if they were hanging on a clothes line, would someone be able to tell what they are?

A solid disposable system also appeals to me as an option to allow me to stay over at other people’s houses again. I’ve been really avoidant with friends and family over the past year but would be far more willing to do overnight stays again if I have a system I feel confident with.

To answer your question, Yes, the cloth diapers DO look like diapers, since they are adult size prefold diapers. So if dried on a clothesline, they would definitely be recognized as diapers. As you originally said you lived alone, I thought perhaps you had your own washer and dryer setup.

As for being comfortable to sleep in, I HAVE heard some people state that they found it hard to sleep in thick diapers. However, I have an air mattress, similar to a Select Comfort, so I can adjust the softness or firmness to find my best sleeping range. This makes sleeping in thick diapers quite comfortable, and gives me the peace of mind that I won't leak at night.

@Kevin1962 thanks Kevin, I haven’t tried any plastic-backed products yet, or cloth-lined plastic pants. I’ll look into those you have suggested.

@Stevewet thanks for your advice. Seems like you have some effective layering going on. Truth be told,I haven’t looked into bed pads at all.

@btmsupnmd thanks very much for the pointers. I didn’t consider that the waterproof mattress cover could be heating me up. I’ll try your set up with a regular one on top. The Terry lined plastic pants have been suggested by others, too. Will invest.

@DPCARE thanks for your suggestions. When I said “disposable system” I actually just meant nappies that would work for me, but you’ve answered a question I didn’t even know I had. It’s probably time for less frequent sneaky rubbish runs.

@MikeD9876 sorry, I shouldn’t have minced my words like that. Sleeping and living alone are clearly different things.

I’m glad you have such a comfortable and effective system. Washable products are definitely something I would look into if my issues persist into the future/ with a different washing situation.

@Rowan123 given the fact you used the nappy in your original post, and the flag displayed by your name, it behooves me to so what country you're living in. If you're Australian then some of the suggestions made are going to be hard for you to get, and so will mine.

I wear a diaper cover from a company called PROTECbreifs. They look more like a pair of padded bike shorts than a diaper cover, but they work amazingly. I'm really over the moon with the pair I have. No leaks at all since I got them.

Just an update re my initial post, I purchased some of the Betterdry nappies that were suggested above. I’ve been wearing them for about a week now with plastic pants and found they have held up really well, with no leaks onto my sheets. The inside of my plastic pants have been slightly damp in the morning but not dripping like when I was using the other products. It has been a huge weight off my shoulders to not have to worry about constant washing and pee smell concerns. The only drawback of the Betterdrys is their practicality for nights away. They are very thick and noisy - definitely not something I would feel comfortable wearing under boxers or shorts in front of others, even just for the dash from bathroom to bed. I will definitely continue buying these nappies for home use, though. Big thanks from me, my washing machine and probably also my university grades to those who suggested them.

@msuspartan thanks for the advice. I was able to buy Betterdrys in Australia, thankfully. I’ll look into the Protec cover.
