Hi everyone,
My name is Eliott, I’m 29, and I just joined this forum a couple days ago and it’s been so great to see how many other people are in the same boat as me. It’s really made me feel less alone!
I have issues with bed wetting brought on by anxiety and stress. Usually I’m lucky and it’s only 1-2 times a month, but with the pandemic I’ve been having a really hard time with my anxiety and lately every morning I wake up wet.
I’ve come to terms with this as something I just have to deal with and for the most part I sleep okay. The only issue is I toss and turn a lot when falling asleep and the bed pad I use for extra protection is always getting out of place or folding up. Does anyone have any suggestions of what they use that works well?

Good day
I’ve a waterproof mattress cover now but I also use the Goodnites bed pads as they have sticky corners that don’t allow them to move especially if you put them under your sheets.

Hi Elliott,
Nice to have you here. Walmart has some inexpensive washable pads and if needed you can always fold a towel in half and lay across the top for more protection. A company called peepod posted on the form and they look like a good product although I haven’t tried them it’s worth checking them out. Looks like they have a few different sizes.
Hope this helps🙂

What is your primary protection? If it provides inadequate absorption, you could possibly lose the bed pad if you upgrade.

Pee pod which jrpoorman suggested was fine but towelling type. Amazon sells pads with a non skid back not very absorbent by themselves though.
These are both washable reusable but you need a washer and dryer at home

I use a coveden chux pad that has adhesive on the back on top of a Northshore washable pad. Granted the washable pad slides sometimes but it works for the most part

Try using a larger pad. I know that washable/reusable ones are available as large as 34” x 52”. They are available through Amazon. Are you wearing some underwear-type protection also? I have found that to be a big help.
Welcome to the group.

Thanks for the advice everyone — I may look into those peepods as they look bigger and less likely to slide around.

I do use other protection but I kinda messed up there. When nighttime wetting first became a problem, I just went to Walmart and got some Depends pull-ups to wear at night. I now see what everyone was saying about how pull-ups are useless at night. I’ve just been doubling them up and with the pad I’ve been lucky not to have too many issues.

I have been a little ashamed about biting the bullet and switching to briefs but now that it’s become more frequent, it’ll be better than worry about leaks.

I think we have all been there. They are only good for minor leaks at best. Don't worry about it, there's no shame in a tape on diaper. That 's easier said than done, but you will actually feel less anxious knowing you won't leak.

NEW FRIEND, Just note however, this person is not a regular wetter, he is reacting to times of stress and snxiety.
It has been noted else that wearing diapers regularly creates a physchological dependence and so can make an occasional stress anxiety incontinence a more nightly event.
I suggest protect your matress with a encompassing plastic matress cover, then a cloth type matress cover and a good size bed pad either the cloth reusable and washable or disposable ones with sticky backing.
Look into meditation type relaxing behavior, maybe anti anxiety meds if thats something you need.
It is understandable we live in a stressful time but we are all in this time of dealing with an issue, its not the first time humanity has had yo tackle a mysterious health issue and its necessary to be slow at adopting diapers or meds which become a new habit.

I totally agree with yr post. I am an occasional wetter, usually related to anxiety issues. I started wearing diapers 'just in case' and I DID get dependent upon them. My subconscious brain also knew I had them on and it got lazy and didnt wake me up to use the bathroom. It took me a while to get back to NOT wearing them and re-training my brain to alert me of the need to go the bathroom. I do however still wear them if I am staying over at friends' houses as my anxiety about the possibility of wetting their bed will cause me to do exactly that!

Good call about the dependency. MayMay, Adam and Emmy are right.for allot of folks. Having a sheet protector and a good underpad can be a huge help if it’s just occasional issues.
Adam thanks for the tip on the underpads. I will check them out as I need to replace a couple and that’s about the only thing I haven’t bought from Northshore yet.🙂

Be well my friends, and be Blessed on this Holy Week if you Celebrate Easter.

Respectfully,
Jim in Sunny Maryland

I put a larger reusable pad under the fitted sheet and it stays in place. If I have a leak, then the mattress is protected and only the fitted sheet needs to be changed out. If it’s not too bad, then I can get through the rest of the night by putting a disposable mat over the wet spot until the morning. I don’t leak all that often, so it’s worth the occasional laundry to not have to fight a bunched up pad all night long.
