Hello.o.o.o Where is everyone.

I'm back to work 6 weeks after radical prostatectomy, but 100% incontinent. Today, the condom catheter slipped off and soaked my pants, embarrassingly. I'm having a hard time with this. I still have absolutely no bladder sensation or control. The surgeon did a cystoscopy last week and says that things are still healing and showed me that the sphincter is closing when I do a kegel, but other than doing a 100% kegel 100% of the time, then no control. No pelvic floor specialist for another 4 weeks.

@RickB I hope someone told it’s a long road. You need to have patience about healing and getting back to normal (as much as possible). I am 2 1/2 years and still striving to make it there.

Don’t give up on the condom catheters. I couldn’t go out without them. Every month when you order complain about all your problems and ask for samples of different sizes, amount of glue and length till you get it right.

If tube keeps pulling out then superglue it. Wear a Velcro wrap over it to hold it in place. Wear loose pants. Wear a strap around upper thigh so tube doesn’t get caught and pull.

It gets better in seasons, not days or weeks. It will get better tho! Feel free to private message if you have any questions. I’ve been through it all.

Good luck! Stay positive.

I check in daily, but don't post much.
I am going thru a rough patch the last six months. My wife had several eye surgeries since last October. She finally got released to get new glasses so she can drive again. I've been doing most of the shopping and cooking. I'm not complaining, I don't mind doing it for my wife and I.
Then we found out today that it's a possibility she has breast cancer. Very early stage. Need to go and get a biopsy done. My wife is very nervous. I am doing the best I can to support her thru this ordeal. Thanks for listening.
I will update when I know more. God bless. Happy Easter.

I’ve been dealing with a mobility-impaired husband who is about three weeks off his first round of radiation therapy for prostate cancer and has developed a UTI. He has a home health aide who works weekdays, which is very helpful. I’ve been managing my own urinary incontinence for so many years that it is part of the rhythm of my life. How do I convince him that stopping in the middle of the day to change if necessary is important? He is determined to use the toilet during the day, so a condom catheter doesn’t sound like a good idea. I’m getting old and weary. Thank you to everyone who read to the end of my pity party. I realize that there are lots of people who would be happy to have my problems.

It may take a while to get into a routine. You and the patient may need constant reminders to empty the bladder. Just keep after him. Maybe even set a timer to remind it's time to use the bathroom.
At night, I use diapers and plastic pants.

I read the forum regularly, but I've quit posting much because I keep seeing various people get attacked for things they've posted. I don't feel much like getting flamed right now, so I just keep my thoughts to myself here, and find other places to get the support I need.

Diana:

Seems like you are a tremendous wife! Too bad about UTI. I drink a lot of water mixed with cranberry juice and take 3 Advol throughout the day. Pull-up allows protection and yet easy access to toilet for most times.

My issues are small compared to what life has been handing you lately. May the biopsy results read “false alarm.” Happy Easter to you.

@ltapilot

Don't worry about me and getting flamed here. I am a big guy and can take it. Been on here long enough to have been a target quite a few times.

I have been being stupid and have to stay home now until everything gets worked out. Spent way too much money this month. I was like, "Well let me see what is going down on the NAFC form"

Like no posts in days. HELLO, where is everyone?

Trying to get to a place were everything is as good as it can be and accepting it is all I can do.

Hope everyone has a great weekend and happy Easter.
