Does anyone take this and does it work?

I tried a different drug I don't remember the name but I stopped after a few days because it wasn't helping, it made things WORSE because it made my mouth really dry and I drank a lot water so I was peeing more not less

So now my doc gave me this and I'm hoping it helps because next week we are going on a road trip and I really don't even want to go but I don't have a choice and I know I am going to have accidents

I’m glad you posted prior to your trip. We are all a bit different, but not only did I get extreme dry mouth, necessitating lots & lots of water, but regardless of how much I drank I got incredibly bad migraines as well. I couldn’t imagine flying or driving in that condition. BTW It did nothing at all to stop the spasms in my case.
Best of luck, I hope you find a way to enjoy your trip regardless!

Some side effects are terrible. Makes your mouth dry, then you drink more fluids, which in turn makes you pee more. A vicious cycle. Damned if you do, Damned if you don't.
I couldn't tolerate side effects.

Not what I was hoping to hear. But I am going to try it because I am hoping it will make this trip better

Side effects vary from person to person. These that are listed are the most common. You may not have any side effects. It may be worth a try.

At this point I will try anything
Trying to figure out if a skirt will be better at hiding an accident in the car

I also tried this medication years ago. Lifelong bedwetter / daytime OAB and urgency all exaggerated by spinal injury at 40 when I badly prolapsed two lumbar discs and subsequently had removal and fusion surgery. I have poor feeling and urologists said that I have nerve damage and control issues as a result . I am a teacher so the need to stay focussed and clear headed is a huge issue. I hated taking it and came to the conclusion that I wouid rather wear protection both at night and during the day than suffer side effects. For me, thick cloth nappies and plastic pants are the way I manage at night when at home. They are the most reliable and comfortable method as I have custom made Velcro pixie nappies that take boosters in the form of folded baby nappied as extra pad. I use good quality disposable nappies if away from home and in the day i wear pull-ups as a routing or a disposable nappy in situations where I know I may have tu hold on longer or where I know toilet access will be impossible such as travelling on public transport or at a busy place such as a concert or football match. I manage discreetly, even in school and nobody else apart from my wife and a courier if very very close trustworthy friends know about my issue. So, if the medication give side effects that you don’t like, consider not taking them and managing the issue through controlled liquid intake, diet and finding the right absorbant products. Best of luck

It helped me some, but ultimately not enough that I stayed on it. I had dry mouth, but it wasn't horrible and largely went away after a while. I'd suggest not to prejudge it - it helps a lot of people, though it doesn't help everyone.

If I recall, your problem is urgency, right? If that's the case, I'd suggest that you get something fairly absorbent, but you probably don't need to go overboard on absorbency. Taped diapers can be better than pull-ups, but you'll need to do some experimentation to see what works for you. Long skirts might be ok, but I would think that dark-colored pants would be more likely to be discreet. Look for heavier fabrics, and something fairly loose or even a size larger than your normal size. I tend to wear relaxed fit jeans or heavy canvas cargo pants, but I'm a man so those wardrobe choices may be a bit more socially acceptable for me. It really depends on where you're going to be and what you can get away with wearing there.

Yeah the Doc had me on 10 mg in the daytime and 5 mg at night.About a year now. Just gives me drymouth and makes me drowsy. Still taking it hoping for a miracle. But miracle appears to not be coming.

You need to maintain fluid intake. Lots of trial and error. Your kidneys need water to do their job.if you cut back too much, you will eventually damage your kidneys.

I tried most of these medications several years ago. Insurance wouldn't cover them, as they were very expensive. I got free samples, but do to the many side effects, both myself and doctors decided to let me handle my bedwetting as needed.
I use diapers and plastic.

I started taking it today.

We leave Sunday for a nine hour drive. Keeping my fingers crossed that this does not become a total disaster.

I started taking it roughly two weeks ago. Not sure it really helps. I feel like I have a lot more general pain in the area than I did, not to mention being extra thirsty, stomach aches. I was getting anxious measuring every day, so I'm giving it another week before I get some real evidence.

I may be using the bathroom slightly less frequently, but no noticeable decrease in bedwetting.

Erin,
If I could offer only one bit of advice, it would be to dress for the worst and hope for the best. If you do spring a leak you are covered, and that will at least leave your nerves intact.
A suggestion if I may from experience would be wear a lighter protection with a doubler inside. That way with a minor leak you just swap out the doubler & keep going. If you do need greater protection it’s already in place..
No matter what, do whatever you need to relax a bit, I hope you somehow enjoy yourself!

Thanks for all the info. It feels like it might be working a little bit. I can hold it longer now before I have an accident. But still not long enough to help if I am stuck in the car. Might help on the plane trip.

I am giving up on any kind of help for the car trip. I know I will have accidents and somehow I just have to deal with it.

It takes almost three weeks to a month before Oxybutynin really works to full potential. I've been on/off it over 20 years and take 30mg daily. It does different things to different people, in my case it helps with the sudden painful bladder spasms but does very little for constant dribble.
