Looking for Others Like Me

Hi Everyone,

Glad to see that the site is back up again. First of all, let me say how grateful I am to have a website like this where those of us who have incontinence for whatever reason can share and support one another in a safe space. Although I'm basically completely healthy otherwise, I was born with an underdeveloped bladder. I'm a male now in my 50s and I've basically never been able to be reliably dry either day or night and have always pretty much needed diapers.

Growing up in the 1970s, I was a member of the first Pampers generation back when they came in the purple box and you had to separate them at the sides. I was able to wear the large size up until I was about 10 and then I graduated to Youth Attends and the early green Depends. Since then I've worn pratically every brand of disposable.

Obviously, being incontinent at any age--no matter how or when it starts--is hard. But dealing with it as a child and espeically a teenager is espeically rough (the teasing from other kids, frustration of parents and other adults, the humiliation of being in the drugstore or grocery store and having your mom pay for your diapers at the checkout line, etc. After that, being an adult with this carries a whole other set of issues (dating, work, etc.).

I would very much like to talk to others who have been dealing with wetting issues since childhood and still are to compare notes. Just FYI, I'm not and AB or anything like that, although the infantile feelings associated with this problem are always there. I hope to hear from you.

Hi I also remember wearing the pampers but I was in the late 80 wearing them. I’m incontinent and wear diapers full time. Always interested in taking

Hi, i am from the 70s too. Although my incontinence started when i was in my 30th i always had trouble with my bladder. I was a bedwetter up to my teen years and always had, what i know now is called an over active bladder. It has been a lonely issue where i felt different and couldn't live my life the way i would have been able to without this issue.

70 and exactly where you are. Nightly, numerous times a night bedwetter that have been diapered in bed my whole life. Tried controlling daytime ledge with thick underwear or 2-3 pairs of briefs with plastic pants over them during the day always worried about being discovered. Way too many times deLING with leaks on my pants before I got home after school. Gave up 19 years ago and added tape on daytime diapers to go with my pin on cloth overnights.

I can totally relate.

I had bedwetting issues as a kid.

Had all but blocked it out of my memory until I started to have to use incontinence products in my 30s, for heavy post void drip.

Shields, guards, then washable incontinence briefs, then Depends.

As those products started to fail me when I developed urge incontinence from Prostate issues in my late 40s, the shame and embarrassment of having to wear Pampers as a kid in the 70s all came back to me. I wouldn't even consider adult diapers.

Anyway, once I took the plunge it made my quality of life soooo much better, especially with the high quality high tech products they have now.

But I still have internal shaming and voices echoing around in my head going back to those Pampers days. Well meaning adults thinking I could will myself out of bedwetting if they shamed me enough.

Anyway! Life is good. Years of pads stuffed in my underwear, and always feeling wet in my Depends and incontinence briefs, I love feeling dry in the diapers I wear now, even after full void bladder leaks.

Messages always open! I'm always up to chat with others who have had similar experiences.

It can be a lonely struggle at times.

Yes, I remember wearing two or three pairs of briefs for occasional leaks when I was younger. And changing my underwear three or four times a day because I was terrified of odor and leaking thru my pants. I'd dry my hands on my pants or purposely spill water to camouflage my post-pee drip spots. And in my college years when boxers became cool, I had to wear my briefs under them to catch the drip.

Lonely struggle, yes I’m sure most of us are in the same camp. I think many health issues are usually personal and “lonely”. However most health related issues don’t carry a stigma like incontinence.
