Huge prostate PLUS bladder stones

Does anyone have a similar situation? In my old age I refuse surgery for stones removal. I am on blood pressure med and anti-coagulant. I am using Depends "Guards" 24/7. Your comments/experiences are very welcome !

I had calcium stones in my prostate. I had started to have bleeding and got a prostate infection. My doctor recommended removal of the stones, and did a "clean-up" TURP to remove some necrotic tissue left-over from cancer radiation treatment. I have had incontinence issues ever since. In retrospect I would NOT have done the procedure, or at least I would have gotten a second opinion

I have no stones but had Turp in January because of it now have urethral stricture. Would not have had Turp if I knew this. Now getting stricture fixed with surgey by a specialist. Best advice get second opinion, once they cut you no going back.

I agree with golshansky....once they cut on you no going back!! I wish I had gotten a second opinion. My urologist DID NOT cover the risk factors, particularly the part about becoming incontinent!!!! I still get really pissed off when I think about it, more so about myself for not fully researching the problem he said I had, and the pros & cons of the treatment procedure he proposed. Probably the best question to ask is..."Is the cure going to be worse than the problem"??

Hi cmulwee, you sez-"My urologist DID NOT cover the risk factors, particularly the part about becoming incontinent!!!!

I Say- Amen Brother. Been there done that. In Dec 2017 I had
Laser Prostate surgery. My Uro also "Did Not" mention to me that
one of the Post-Op problems could be OAB, which I have now for
past 11 months.

Prior to the surgery I did a very thorough research regarding the
PVP LPS and the resulting POST-OP symptoms. Again none of the research articles mentioned being incontinent, as a result of the surgery. So now I am paying the Piper. I have been dealing with this OAB Madness for past 11 months. I am know seriously
considering having one of the Surgery procedures to hopefully get some relief from this constant wetness caused by the Bladder constantly voiding itself into my Man Pad in the crotch of the
Adult diapers. I don't mind wearing the diapers. I just see them
as Ugly underwear that collects urine. : )

Perhaps I can sue the URO for malpractice. NAH probably not. :-(

I also had stones after several infections. My prostate wasn't very big, but blocked my water pipe completely. 3 months after the TURP I had a bladder neck incision. I have been dealing with OAB ever since. I get small leaks every 30 minutes or so and also sudden urges which result in complete bladder loss. I wear tena briefs all the time.

My prostate blocked my urine flow so bad the urodynamics result was zero flow. I was cathing it was so bad. The Urologist suggested a turp. For some reason I got the vibe this was not a good plan and sat down with the PA ❤️ who did the Urodynamics lab. She said to get checked for cancer and don't take no for an answer.

Short version is I had cancer. Removing it happened just in time before it spread and even tho I'm dealing with some retention problems its a hell of a lot better then being dead. In addition I think its of value to ask why your prostate is changing when it does and whoever said PSA tests are useless didn't have the experience I did. (It was suddenly changing and going up fast) Oh and "Watchful Waiting" meaning you do nothing when they find Cancer is a crock of shit unless you already so old its pointless. I asked the Urologist who told me this was my first option that I wondered how likely it would be that he would do that? Answer: Zero.

I know with kidney stones they can sometimes use ultrasound to break them up, I wonder if that is an option for bladder stones. Always to avoid surgery if possible.
