I was about to ask earlier today if anyone had any abdominal pain post-op. Not right away, as I recovered from the actual surgery, pain-wise, pretty quickly, within 24 hrs, pretty much. This was 3-4 weeks post-op (now). Today is exactly 1 month post-op!
However, my wife texted me that she set up a Dr. appt. for me today at 2 pm. My Dr/surgeon is out-of-town, so the appt. was with a nurse practitioner. She listened to me and then we decided on a sonogram - they ruled out kidney stones, but definitely saw something...just didn't know WHAT!
Next, they sent me off for a CT scan.
Then, without explanation, they sent me by wheelchair to the ER!
That scaredus (my wife and I) - figured emergency exploratory surgery to stop the bleeding or whatever...which was kinda shocking, because other than some pain, severe at times (and I have a high threshold for it), I felt OK - not nauseous, no fever, etc...
Once in ER, was finally told the CT scan showed a hematoma (internal pool of blood) in the area near my kidneys, but between them and my stomach. They did not original do a contrast CT scan, so they couldn't tell if still bleeding or old blood from 7-10 days ago when this all started. They could have ordered a contrast CT scan, but since all my vitals and labs from blood work good, they decided not necessary and believe old internal bleeding that will clear up (body will absorb it, eventually) on its own, so I got discharged w/ pain meds and got to come home...more labs Monday to confirm still good w/ lots of rest for a while.
So, knew what it was, but still not what caused it... Could have something to do with surgery or something completely isolated and independent - don't think I will ever know...
Anyhow, was just wondering if anyone could relate. If totally unrelated to the surgery, then probably not common and just my bad luck! HA!
Feel free to to share any like or similar experiences...thought I had enough to deal with...just add another to the list: hematoma! nice!
Oh well...gotta deal with whatever comes at you! No choice!!! It will be fine - in a while!
+God+bless+, everyone!
