Artificial Urinary Sphincter (AUS) Group

I had my prostate removed last year and have experienced severe incontinence since then. I recently had a Eurodynamic testing of my bladder and have been told by my Urologist that I am a candidate for the AUS, as subject above. I have done research on the internet concerning how the AUS operates but would like to hear what people are saying about it. I am looking to join a group of individuals who have the AUS and get their advice or opinions on how well they like or how satisfied with their AUS device. Can anyone please advise on such a group online similar to this group or make your comments here, if you would please. Thank you so much for any advice you may offer here or anything that will slow down my leaking or incontinence.

Phil..,

I'm biased, but chose not to do surgery, which may have to be repeated or may have complications. If you can reduce leakage through other means, such as with an external device, I'd first try that. I'm using a soft silicone unit with a protrusion that puts pressure on the urethra to appreciably cut down on the leakage. Combine that with a medium liner and you may solve your problem. I have more info, if you are interested. Best wishes. Duane dglisan@comcast.net

I have had the AUS300 for 1 year after a year and a half 100% incontinent. I am very pleased with its performance. It tends to leak with a hard cough. Make sure you find a urologist that performs numerous surgeries of this type. See my other posts for more info.
