An experiment with water and OAB

I don't have a better diagnosis than OAB.
I found that by limited coffee in the morning and no other type of liquid but filtered water drinking a glass every time I normally might have had a "fun" drink (anything flavored)took a week then spasms in the day went away day toilet was less and straight forward. Nights much better.
I stopped this lifestyle for two weeks.
First some cramping then an aversion to drinking a glass of water.
Now heavy nocturnal flow and weaker spasmodic day flow. Began to fee lethargic tummy feels uncomfortable or bloated.Brain foggy.
So I'm going to quit the experiment and force myself back to ONE CUP OF COFFEE and cold water through out the day.

That seems to be a very reasonable plan. Please let us all know how it goes. Hopefully you will do well.

I have OAB and just had an Interstim device implanted. It has helped, but I have cut back on "fun drinks", too. However based on beverages that are supposed to be OK for OAB, I have been drinking low-calorie apple juice. It doesn't seem to bother my OAB. I hate drinking plain water and it causes issues with my stomach to boot. Apple juice is my way of trying an alternative that is relatively fun:) Have you tried that Maymay941?

Thank you Fleemore I have not but I might. Any fruit juice has been part of the group that is no fun although fun at the time.
You know the worst ? A glass of milk.

I'm sorry your experiment didn't work, Maymay. How disappointing. I used to like plain water much more than I do now. Now, I like Ocean Spray Diet Cranberry Juice (only 5 cal/serving). I don't have any bad reactions from it.

I drink 2 cups of coffee in the morning, then start drinking water and drink about 100 ounces per day. Yes, it makes for a heavy flow, but it gets better for bedtime. I need the water to help my colon along. I have been getting instills for pain, and they do help, but it seems I have more spasms, but very little pain. And I want less pain. I told my urology team this, and they seemed happy that I was following this path. And I feel its better for me.Oh yes, I quit fighting the the spasms. Thank you May for your thoughts, as I have tried different trials and got past the disappointment and moved on

@Maymay941, if I understand correctly, the fun drinks were irritating to you after just drinking water? If so, maybe it appears you have a caffeine sensitivity, and not knowing what is considered fun…alcohol, fruit juice, soda, boba, ?

Thoughts…Have you tried decaf coffee? High acid drinks can irritate the stomach and bladder. On the hand, too much water can create an electrolyte imbalance so, be reasonable with your intake. Also, it would be good idea to drop your PCP a note about your symptoms just to be safe.

My bladder reacts painfully with certain foods, consider looking into your diet as well.
