Air travel

I travel a lot by plane, both domestically and internationally. Overall, I’ve never had a really bad experience. Of course, sometimes my diaper or my urine bag will show up on a scanner or the unusual bulk in my pants will be detected by an observant security agent. Some of them have been more courteous and respectful than others when performing additional checks of my bags or my groin. I remember one agent in the US who padded down my diaper through my pants in full view of the other travelers — but that was with my consent after I didn’t want to lose time by going to a room somewhere. These kinds of experiences are nothing more than minor annoyances in my view. If you think that the TSA agents are rude, try going through airport security in countries where uniformed personnel is used to exercising unchallenged authority.

I’m sorry to hear that others have had bad experiences.

I travel a lot and you always have to bring enough supplies in your carry on in case your main luggage is lost. The secret is to use a vacuum bag for your diapers. You'd be amazed how many you can fit in your carry on that way.
As far a getting through security, I change right before I go through the scanner and if they pull me aside (and they will) I quickly make a joke about my leaky bladder and show them my medication that states "for bladder".
Remember, you'll be one of many they see each day that rely on protection and they could careless.

I have also had the strip search a few times. When the machine alerts, they might ask if I have anything in my pockets. Usually I have my tsa card in hand and show them. It says "incontinence" and I continually am amazed at how many do not know what that word means and ask me. We end up going to a private stall with two tsa agents. Then usually one of three things happen. Most common is they want to either run their gloved fingers or a swab around the waist band to test for explosives. This means undoing my onesie, and thus dropping my pants. Secondly they might ask to see the diaper outright and then will patt down aggressively and again test for explosives. Last and most embarrassing is asking me the change out of it and replace it with a dry one. They usually escort you to the bathroom with an law enforcement officer for this and keep an eye on you. The last two are more common in high drug trafficing locations.

At first it was really embarrassing, now it just annoys me.

I’ll just quickly say that I’ve been through the same as others when at an airport and encountering TSA. Dry or wet hasn’t mattered for me, I always get flagged for at least a pat down. In Portland, OR one agent even asked me “what is this, some sort of Pamper?” and I responded with a simple “yes”.

Carry 1-2 days worth of supplies in a carry on backpack/suitcase. Powder is flagged as a liquid, as are wipes. Carry travel sizes or expect extra scrutiny.

@NotDryDude I can’t believe they treat powder as a liquid!!!!! But then again, just like the police, they can, and will, do whatever they want whenever they want, everything from making a citizen miss a flight to murdering justified by racism.

Just returned-leaving quick pat down and then had me to pat myself down and then checked my hand for gunpowder residue. Return quick pat down and then a supervisor in for a follow up. I would choose flying over driving every day

Attitude is important. The scanner representative has zero interest in knowing if you have a diaper on or not and you will likely never see this person again. If they have to confirm or pat down the fact you have a diaper on, not really a big deal.

From my experience TSA does want to know anything they see on the scanner that is out of the ordinary. I used an external catheter a few years ago and the urine in the bag was recognized. Despite me having a doctor's note explaining that I needed it, I had to show it in an examination room. After I emptied the bag I was allowed to continue. A diaper doesn't always show but this year it did. I tried to change before going through the checkpoint but the airport is always quite stressful to me, shuffling from one queue to another. So this year it was so wet it showed as an exclamation mark at my crotch on the monitor. Again I had to go to the examination room. I had to lower my pants and a swab from the outside of my diaper, front, downside and rear was taken which is used to check for drugs. Probably they have seen people before smuggling drugs inside their diaper, but for me it was very embarrassing.
Obviously everything was alright and once they determined my diaper was just a necessity they didn’t care about me anymore.

What they’re really looking for is not drugs but rather volatile liquids like gasoline that can be used to make a bomb(s).
