UTI with negative urinalysis

Bob, I feel for you. Uti’s are no fun Just got over one last week. Going to finally go back to see uro in a few weeks myself. PrayerS with you my friend that they find out what’s going on and hopefully can get you back to 100%. Wish that for all of us here too of course.

They certainly aren’t any fun for sure. I caught mine before it started getting bad and the antibiotics kicked it out pretty quick. What antibiotic have they been giving you? Sometimes if you’ve taken the same one several times you may need to be on a different one. Just a thought. Anyway, I use northshore.com for absorbent products. If store stuff isn’t working reach out to them. They are awesome to talk with or even just email if that is better for you. I like their megamax briefs for night. At work I have been using a combination of stuff to get me through the day. If you use depends you can always slide another pad in the front of the pull-up then you can just toss that if it gets wet without having to change the pull-up. Creativity comes in handy at times.

Did they say what bacteria caused the infection? And if Bactrim was a proper solution or should it be repeated or replaced with a different solution? I always have to call and ask what the results were from the lab.

The bacteria is staphylococcus aureus, the one you pick up in the hospital. Don’t know why they have not put me on IV with multiple antibiotics to knock it out.

@jrpoorman I think that e.coli is a common one. I have also had something called psuedomonis (I may have the spelling wrong). This was difficult to get rid of. Phil

@Spaz It seems like a common reaction from the medical professionals is: "Shit Happens" It is not their fault that medical science can't figure out what the cause of our problems is. All they can do is treat the symptoms! It is very frustrating!

Hi Phil,
I wish the medical places would make more of an effort to reach out to their patients after the lab results come back and make sure they are being given the correct treatment. And Better yet just call to see how the patient is feeling. What a concept...

I thought I’d share that we use both a urologist and infectious disease doctor. When my daughter gets a UTI/kidney infection, the ID doc helps to determine the appropriate antibiotic and the length of time to take it. It’s helpful to get the perspective of both a UTI expert and an expert in infections and antibiotics usage.

That is excellent news. You definitely are Blessed to have two specialists. So important to have good doctors who can help and care about their patients. Have a good night all. Long day tomorrow and have to get up early.
