Split Stream after Catheter Removal

I know this may be very odd, but has anyone exoerienced a split stream after their post prostatectomy catheter was removed? When standing I am only able to hit the commode with one stream. The other goes outside the commode. I have to sit down to pee. Based on the amount of dried blood where the catheter entered my penis, the hospital nurse told me they must have had a hard time inserting the catheter during surgery. Anyone else experience this? I'm thinking it might be scar tissue at the tip. I miss being able to stand to urinate.

This may be a result of a weak urine stream. I am roughly 15 months following removal of the catheter following my prostatectomy and I still "suffer" occasional split stream urinations. Sometimes I can keep the two in the commode and others times one will go outside which is very irritating. This only happens when I have a weaker urine stream. I guess my suggestion to you is to try to urinate with a fuller bladder so your stream is stronger. If you start with a split stream push harder to strengthen your stream and bring the two together.

I'm 4 weeks post catheter removal, so I'm still working on trying to get my bladder fuller before I urinate (with out involuntarily evacuating when I stand up). It sounds correct but it may take some time before I can test that theory.

Hi, I'm so sorry to hear about your experience. I've never had a prostatectomy but I do periodically see what (thanks to your description) is a split stream. I hope it gets addressed to your satisfaction. If you need additional support from me, send me a new message. Harv

I had this also and was told it is probably due to weak stream. It doesn’t happen with a full bladder. It helps to rub the tip of your penis between your thumb and forefinger to open the exit point of your urethra before you start to go.

Wouldn't worry too much. It's usually trash left over from the operation. Try to squeeze the tip and massaging it around while peeing. Something just might be lodged in a way the needs to be worked loose. Had it happen to me a few times after surgery.
Good luck to you.

I'm a year and a half out from a salvage prostatectomy, still incontinent and can no longer stand and pee without pissing all over myself. I am now a full time squatter. Many times a split stream and many times a weak stream that won't clear my pants. So I just jerk my pants down and squat at the same time.
