Need some support

So I have pelvic floor disfunction and it’s so tight that I can’t feel when my bladder is full anymore. Can’t feel when I need to go. And anytime I get stressed or anxious I pee. Or if I’m just relaxing I pee. Or if I’m walking I’ll start peeing.

I’ve been setting alarms every hour trying to go to the bathroom to avoid an accident but I’m so tight that I barely can ever go when I try.

Do I just wear diapers during the day and let the pee flow whenever? Does that make me lazy? It’s just so hard to try and not have an accident that I’m to the point to just wear full time and let whatever happen.,.happen

I’m going to pelvic floor therapy and I have trigger point injections in about a month. Can you guys just help me figure out what to do. I’m so stressed and struggling to find peace and comfort.

Thanks!

@JoelCairo I’ve tried the pure wick which is an external catheter for females since I’m female. And it still leaks. Thanks for the idea though!

So sorry you're having this trouble. When I urinate I have to force the urine out. I have Interstitial Cystitis. Look that up. You may have that too. It is painful 4 me to do Kegels for instance. Are you able to do Kegels? That would be helpful. No, you're not lazy at all! You're like the rest of us. Trying to find a system that works. I would say you need to wear diapers or pads day & night. I live in a mobile home park & we're limited 2 2 30 gallon trash cans. No room for diaper disposal. So I have 2 wear pads. Plus size undies from Lane Bryant are the best! I have undies that have lasted over 5 years! They're a little more expensive, but worth it!! Losing weight improves urinary incontinence. I weighed 236 at the start of the pandemic. Am now 170. What a difference. Can now sleep 4-5 hours straight at night without waking up!!!

I understand the hesitancy to wear diapers. Hopefully you will find a solution to fix your problem and return to normal. In the interim wearing protection is probably best. It's been two years of struggling with incontinence but I just wear pullups or pads all the time now.

@pegasi99 I will have my doctor look into that. I’m more just struggling with the fact that if I should keep trying to set alarms to try to go to the bathroom or just wearing diapers and letting it happen when it happens. It hurts and stressful trying to keep a timer and not being successful 80% of the time

No you are not lazy! Just posting here shows how much work you are doing to find balance. I do not find much comfort in alarms and timers, and everyone's approach is probably gonna be different.

@Dkscray255 I can relate to this having OAB but also an overactive pelvic floor myself, although with less severe symptoms than you appear to be experiencing. I’ve been using a tens machine set to the “relax” setting (prescribed by my pelvic floor physio) to try to help the muscles to relax. I have definitely noticed a reduction in accidents, but it’s no magic pill. It’s likely that if you’re contemplating wearing taped briefs more regularly, the need is already there. Knowing that you are protected may even assist with the anxiety and help the muscles to relax when they should be.

It absolutely kills me that this has not been suggested for you. What does your therapist currently do with you and how long have you been seeing them for? Have they given you lots of stretching exercises to try to loosen up the muscles in that area? I use a Neurotrac pelvitone dual channel stim unit for one 15 min chunk of time per day, usually first thing in the morning. I hired it for a month from my physio for free and then purchased it for $170. Felt pricey at the time but I am glad I bought it now. I find that if I neglect it for a couple of days, my OAB urgency increases and I have a lot more accidents where my pelvic floor muscles are fatigued from being tense for so long that they can’t do the work when I need them to. All the best finding what works for you!
