Myrbetriq

Back in Feb the urologist gave me a script and samples for Myrbetriq. Problem is even having tried 6 anticolonurgic drugs and seen no improvement or had bad side effects, insurance said no to coverage. Tried to fill via a Canadian pharmacy and failed because the process is sketchy.

This drug costs $550 a month. I just bought a month out of pocket because it gets about 90% results. It’s a great med but the price is insane.

I guess my point in writing this is to vent, 90% is great but it still leaves me in diapers so I’m just not sure it’s worth it. I make a good living so fortunately I can probably swing it but that cost on top of diapers, it really adds up.

My urologist tried giving me four different medications for my bed wetting including Myrbetriq (all were fee samples) - nothing really worked and the side effects were horrible. I do not take any medications now and just wear a tab style diaper at night. It works for me and the cost is cheaper than meds.

I'm in the same boat, newbie2this! After they did my urodynamic study and cyctoscope, my urologist gave me a 3 month sample of the Myrbetriq, it made things better, and had the least side effects of everything I had taken thus far. But, still had to wear pads and diapers as my day/night leaking still fluctuated between small leaks and floods
I was excited cuase it did helps, but my pharmacy told me,"oh, by the way, that will be $490 and insurance doesn't pay for it."
I haven't taken it for several months, and I'm actually happier about not taking meds cause what they do to my body.

I haven't been back to my urologist, he's the only office in the area and they won't give me a new one. He basically told me after all that testing, "your bladder is damaged don't know why, here's a pill". So, I wear a tab diaper at night and just pads/pull ups during the day.

Stay strong and brave.

I’m on Mybetriq and it has made a huge difference. I have OAB. The drug company will provide subsidy if insurance doesn’t cover it. Check out their website.

I called them before I filled the script and they told me about the income limit for the program and I’m over it, which I guess means I can “afford” it, sure my bank account will not fall below zero with this extra expense but goddamn, its ridiculous.

I took Myrbetriq a couple years ago - and it'd not worth it. Mine worked for about 5-6 months and gave me adequate daytime control but then stopped working. One of there most common complaints of mirabigron is that it stops working as your body builds a tolerance to it. I was able to get it covered by insurance the last couple of months prior to it not working but prior to that I took the samples.

I've used Myrbetriq and it did help some. Even on Medicare it's expensive. The newest drug out there is called Gentesa....here's the info on it:
Vibegron, sold under the brand name Gemtesa, is a medication for the treatment of overactive bladder. Vibegron is a selective beta-3 adrenergic receptor agonist. The most common side effects include headache, urinary tract infection, common cold, diarrhea, nausea, and upper respiratory tract infection.

It did not help with my OAB. The ONLY thing that helped me with my OAB has been Botox injections into the bladder. It has given me my QoL (Quality of Life) back.

@snow had such good results with it she convinced me to give it a try.

I'm happy to share more info if you'd like more.

I am scared of Botox. The good outcomes from you guys help but I’m still freaked out.

I actually booked a session with an out of network cash only pelvic floor therapist for next week. I got some decent relief in 2017 with PFPT. I’m wondering if a tuneup may help.

Also has anyone had mental side effects with Myrbetriq? Not supposed to but I’m having trouble pulling stuff out of short term memory on work conference calls the last few days. It’s freaking me out.

I took Myrbetriq for a couple of months a few years ago, but it raised my blood pressure. My Medicare part D covered it. Can’t say that it helped my OAB symptoms significantly.

@Newbie2this, is it the pain of the injection or some side effect that scares you? I also feared the injection due to anticipated pain. (Whenever I had to endure a cystoscopy the pain was bad.) My urologist offers Pro-Nox which is a 50/50 mixture of Oxygen and Nitrous Oxide. You simply breathe it in during the procedure and it totally relaxes you.

I will not hesitate to have Botox again once this current dose wears off. Medicare does not cover the cost so I had to pay $150 out of pocket.

The website is https://www.pro-nox.com/

My OAB is a nonfactor in my life due to the Botox injection.

The thing about Botox that bothers me is the risk of retention. The thought of having to insert a cath, even once, let alone multiple times a day, is terrifying.
