I haven't been here in a hot minute. Been dealing with a LOT.
I had my SPC placed in January. Since then I have had 3 UTIs. One was antibiotic resistant and I ended up in the hospital for a week, and then had 5 days of at home IV antibiotics which I had to administer myself because insurance wouldn't pay for a nurse. It suuuuuuucked.
Then I was in the hospital for a week at the beginning of March for a week because I couldn't eat or hold down meds. They think I have gastroparesis, but I cant get the test to confirm because I take opioids for complex regional pain syndrome. I also found out that likely because of the antibiotics I was on I a carrier for c diff, but luckily didn't have an active infection.
I have surgery scheduled for April 25th to have the pain pump I have that failed finally removed. With the recurrent UTIs I have had, its been repeatedly postponed. However, I had a cath change Friday and they did a urine culture. Got the results back this morning and for the first time since it was placed I have no infections! Soooooooo happy about that.
Its been a roller coaster, but I also am getting a second opinion on my failed knee replacement. Fingers crossed I can avoid having my other leg amputated too.
Hope everyone is well!
