My Recent Health Issues

This could wind up being a long story! About a month ago, I went to the emergency room. I thought I was having a stroke or some other Emergency. It turned out I was not, but the Emergency Room Doctor found that from 5 years ago, when I was hospitalized with COVID-19 for 31/2 weeks and intubated for a portion of my stay. The Doctors found a Mass on my Bladder and an aneurysm on my Aorta. MY GP Doctor missed this; he never said anything to me about any of this, and it was in my file. The Emergency Room Doctor told me to call my doctor the next day. When I opened my medical file the next day, in big block letters was a reference to everything the doctor and I had spoken about. My doctor started with a Urologist, and I got in no time and was examined and scheduled for surgery on my bladder. My bladder was over half full of cancer and was removed. But Incontinence was workable for daytime with a heavy-duty nighttime Pull-Up that I wore during the day. I now wear a Diaper with a Booster Pad and Plastic Pants, as my daytime wetting is now my brain, you have to go potty, and about 10 seconds, I am wetting my diaper. My life and the diaper use are still manageable. I work 3 days a week. As for the heart aneurysm, I see the doctor in a couple of weeks and will ask to see a cardiologist. Why did my GP miss this? I have no idea, but we are moving forward in life. This is just to let you know that our doctors are human. In his defense, he came on board a few months before Covid-19 overtook the world, and he did not think to look back in my file; he will now. I am hoping my now 24/7 Incontinence is only temporary, once my body finishes all its healing has only been a week and a half since the surgery.

Hi Fredy... sorry to hear about all this and it has to be distressing... My two prostate tumors were found accidentally more less.... I had an elevated borderline PSA number on the Gleason scale which prompted a second MRI, the first MRI for a totally unrelated matter, but my primary said that as long as I was there, why not have a MRI of the prostate area.... he authorized it... and I spent one hour and forty minutes in the tube... the tech noticed two "spots" and the subsequent 18 sample biopsies confirmed that the two "spots" were now called tumors... Less than a month later, I had a radical prosatectomy... I have now researched "recovery" times and have found a lot of references to "7 weeks to 7 months".... I also have read a lot of forums and anecdotal posts from men that have mentioned near normalcy after 14 weeks.. I have four weeks to go... and hope they are correct... I am sure the medical community gets inundated with guys who are impatient... so the replies I have gotten from my urologist/surgeon's staff have been short.... basically, paraphrasing here, "give it some time.." Two leading online urologists said the same thing to me... simply after ten weeks stating "you are in the early stages of recovery." Not what you want to hear but relieved that there is hope down the road.... hang in there... good luck...

Fredy552,

I hope this finds you coping with your current situation as well as can be expected.

I am surprised this went unnoticed for 5 years. I guess it is a blessing in disguise that you ended up at the emergency room. Who knows how much longer this might have gone unnoticed.

It was unclear whether your bladder was removed, or only the cancerous portions? Either way, it seems like that will require some lifestyle changes... Drinking less on a schedule?

I wish you the best in your journey to a full recovery.

Wet-Again
