So I had my SPC placed in January because my bladder died in December. I thought my need for diapers was over. Seeing the good in the bad, I suppose. This turned out not to be the case. I sometimes get bladder spasms, even with medication. Thought I could get away with pullups. No for 3 reasons.
1) i have leakage around the stoma site (turns out its quite normal). I cant for the life of me get the waist to stay up leading to my clothing getting wet
2) when spams happen, pull ups aren't enough.
3) I am on very heavy pain meds. My bowels are a mess. Basically my health issues are pretty severe including complex regional pain syndrome - nicknamed the suicide disease. People often think I must be sitting around high. 98% of the time I don't even feel them. They allow me to shower without crying in pain, though.
Since becoming incontinent after my accident in 2015 I have been fighting insurance to get diapers covered. I have skin issues and cannot use cloth backed. I lost the insurance fight and just gave up. Since realizing I was now back to square one and needed them still I discovered I can get away with tranquility atn. I saw a new primary care and decided to try again going through insurance cause I had nothing to lose. The local medical supply store called and told me that the prior authorization was approved. I had been told this before then they came back and said it wasn't, so my hopes weren't up. Today UPS showed up with SEVERAL boxes of atns. I don't know what that dr did, but she had the magic words. And 2 days ago I got 2 huge boxes of underpads, gloves, etc. Because of a loophole with insurance (in their favor) the only thing I cant get is wipes, but I am am appealing that because they should be (its a long story.
Nevertheless, I am floored.....
