I'm in N FL so close but not in your area and all the lightning. We get it, but more in just passing afternoon thunderstorms the blow through quickly. I've been down on the Weikiva when a storm came up once. It was awesome to see the power of nature. Thankfully it was a fast moving storm that send a deluge of rain that soaked me but I was mostly dry by the time I got back to the launch a few hours later.

But total agree with you and @billliveshere gotta respect thunderstorms and their power.

They are spectacular to see from a distance, though! I like to step out after supper and watch the distant heat lightning although it only happens on a few nights during the summer. But those are Mother Nature's own fireworks!
