Confused and ashamed

May I suggest that when you ask to be put on a cancelation list, that you tell the receptionist what it is about. Quite often, if the front line staff knows what the problem is, they will be a bit more proactive in finding you an appointment. And... at the risk of repeating what others have said, you WON'T be the only case your doctor has dealt with regarding this matter. Best wishes to you.
