I am working with Mayo Phoenix and I am 78. My prostatectomy was on 5/27/21 and I spent 12 months with a pelvic floor specialist and a bunch of home exercises including Kegels, bands, etc. and it didn't work because the leaking compromised my quality of life. The AUS process starts with an uroflow and a uroscopy that will verify (or not) that an AUS is indicated. My uroflow ruled out a sling, for example. It's important to vet the surgeon and ask a lot of questions. Don't be afraid of getting 2nd or 3rd opinions. On 8/26/22, I had the AUS surgery. The surgery itself is 45-60 minutes followed by a 6-week healing period before activation. In those 6 weeks, expect some discomfort in the perineal and scrotal areas and carry a pillow when you know that you will be sitting on hard surfaces. I'm a day out and playing pickleball and doing things around the house without worrying about leaking. I call the AUS a medical marvel
