Hi all, I’m a 30yo lady... I’ve experienced both daytime incontinence and nocturnal eurensis in varying degrees my whole life. Currently I’m wet multiple times every night and have to wear a pad during the day to minimise embarrassing accidents.

I’ve tried all medication available on the NHS and also tried PTNS and Botox. All have been unsuccessful. As you can imagine it’s really affected my life (mentally, physically and emotionally) but I’m trying to regain my life and explore the world while at it!

I like to travel but usually stay in hotels and wear night time pads (diapers) but have recently won the opportunity to go on a 6 week trip with a group and don’t want to pass it up! I’m super nervous as it’s a long time in various places across the US and Canada so I don’t know how I’d travel with 6 weeks worth of day and night pads AND all my clothes (clean and soiled). The fear of dozing off while in a bus with the group is huge! Let alone figuring out where to do laundry if we stay in a city for less than a day.

P.s. no one besides my immediate family and doctors know. I’m really scared and embarrassed to share with others and would rather try and manage this without the people on the trip finding out.

Any advice from other travellers?

Anybody been on a long distance road trip before? Any tips?

Hi WorldTraveler😊
Love the pic, the loo’s on planes are so small at least they are a little bigger than motor coaches.
Hope you find the site helpful. Has been a blessing for me to get to chat with others who have to wear pads too. I am in Maryland. Nice and sunny today. Hope you have a great day😌
Kind regards,
Jim

@jrpoorman Hi Jim, you’re absolutely right about the loo size. Not ideal for changing while on the move talk less of disposing a used diaper!

How do you cope when going on long journeys?

Have a great day too!

I know how you are feeling. I have the same problem, I get nervous everytime someone asks my Husband and I to go on a trip. we don't go much more than 10 days anywhere because of the Pads, pullups and bed pads I have to take along. I am 69 yrs old and have tried everything that I can and different Drs to no avail, I have lost faith in Drs. they are way to busy for this sort of problem. I have had ptns,used a apexm that does kegals for you. Now I might try something Macro plastique from another Dr. who seems to care , so we will see how that works. You are so young it would be nice for you to get this cured at your age. Youe donot deserve this problem, actually no one does. It changes your whole life> I find that I get really angry about this, and then I take it out on other people because I just want to be normal.well good luck and I hope you get a good answer to your problem, but taking enough pads and pull up and bed linings would be so hard for weeks. let us know how things go if you go .

@colin13 sending you big hugs.

I get it, I went through a phase of being angry all the time because I was missing out on so much and had several public accidents. I was in such a bad place but I’ve finally made peace with it. I’ve been poked and prodded by Doctors most my life to find a “cure” but that may never happen for me and I have to be okay with that otherwise I won’t enjoy life.

So far it’s been suggested I contact chain stores and get diapers along the way because travelling with 6weeks worth is tricky.

Don’t loose faith, I’ll keep you all updated on my 6 week journey! 😊

Could you ship a package to one of the places you are staying halfway through or something? Then you don’t have to carry as many or get caught at the store. Someone always “needs” to go to the store with me when I need to get supplies.

I agree with 3 babies. Having stuff shipped to hotels on the route is a very easy solution to your problem. Aside from material needs, such as pads and diapers, you could also ship new clothes and than use the box to ship soiled clothes home. It is really an easy process. Hope you get things arranged and enjoy the trip!

We ship to our field reps at the hotels all the time. I bet you can do that and have I have found if you take older clothes and underwear on a trip with you, you can toss the old clothes in the trash and pickup something new or have room for a souvenir for the trip home.😊

When flying I use a wheeled duffel bag. I get 40 diapers,wipes,over pants trash bags and skin care all in one bag plus some clothes.If you need more have them sent to a hotel where you might stay for a day or to.If I travel in my t.v. I have them sent to the office of the rv park where I will be staying.You can order ahead and they will be waiting for you.

Hi world traveller.I just got back off short trip took my supplies with me have also took bus trips just wore diapers so to stay away from bad accidents.My wife goes with me which is also a aid.

Traveling has always caused me anxiety, since those of us that wet while sleeping also have to worry about the result of falling asleep anywhere! Personally, I have smaller accidents when having a shorter sleep (or less deep sleep, like on a plane or bus), so I will use a thinner diaper under those circumstances. Consequently, I pack a combination of absorbent items, which helps out in taking up room in my suitcase. I bought one that specifically has a very large compartment just for my sleep products and recently came back from a 3 week trip using this method. I use extremely absorbent diapers for night (with a plastic pant cover) which allows me to not have to pack bed pads or liners and lighter diapers for those other uses. I'll even pack some pull-ups, if I change in the early morning and still want to sleep protected without using another heavy diaper. This combination worked really well for me in terms of volume in my suitcase. I have had diapers shipped to hotels, but after one mix up doing that, prefer to have my needs with me at all times. Also, NEVER check all your protection. It only takes one lost bag to really mess up a vacation!@#$%

Hi everyone, apologies for my silence. I’ve had a real hard time recently so have been away from social media and forums but I’m back and the love the suggestions! 😁

I’m packing for the trip today and don’t feel so nervous thanks to you all.

I will definitely be taking diapers with different absorbency to help with space as we’re only able to take one bag each and will probably use Amazon to deliver what I need to hotels.

I get my supplies from Northshore out of Buffalo Grove, IL. I've never used it but they offer shipping to a Fed-Ex or participating Walgreens.

Hi worldTraveller. I don't have any suggestions, but I wanted to tell you I admire your courage and optimism. :)

If visiting Ireland adult diapers are only sold in a certain number of pharmacies or drug stores,and their few and far between.

So unless you wear pull ups which are more likely to be sold in pharmacies like the boots chain of pharmacies and some supermarkets,then it's best you bring your own supplies with you or order online and get sent to the place your staying in.

@WorldTraveller

Semi travelier here with occasional bedwetting. I can totally relate to the stress of traveling and having to deal with potential wetting situations. A while back I posted about an early morning long cross country flight I was taking and suggestions on protection options in case I fell asleep on the plane and had a potential accident. The group was great in suggestions and encouragement in not letting my occasional bedwetting keep me from living my life. As @davidg6209 says traveling as a bedwetter is stressful since you never know if a short sleep will result in wet pants when you wake so you have to prepare for any situation. During my long flight at the suggestion of those here I wore an adult pull ups. It was so awkward for me but also reassuring that if I fell asleep on the plane since I had to get up at like 3 in the morning I didn't have to worry if I wetted in my sleep.

Thankfully I stayed dry the whole flight, but it is suggestions and support form the great people here that helped me fly without worries.

Glad the conversation is helpful. I will be traveling from the US to Asia the end of October and am already planning what space I'll need for which combination of products. What I do know, is that I refuse to let myself be concerned about sleeping during such a long flight and will wear whatever I need to, to be completely confident!

I travel a fair amount from time to time (all domestic in the US) and used to pack huge bags with all my supplies. Last time I travelled I had it shipped ahead to the hotel, worked out great.

DEfinitely pack a few along though! I am more comfortable with a tape on brief during those times- just takes away any worry or stress about leaking.
