What is Your Monthly Cost of Incontinence Products?

Everyone:
The topic of the monthly cost of our incontinence products, and possible reimbursement for that, has come up recently and it would be interesting, and possibly even helpful to our cause, to know some actual average monthly costs that our condition imposes on us.

Please indicate the average monthly cost associated with controlling your condition. Things like diapers, pads, creams, plastic pants, bed pads, wipes, etc. And don't feel like you have to itemize or explain anything in detail if you don't want to, just a good estimated average cost per month would still be very helpful.

Even if you get help from Medicare/Medicaid, the VA, NHS, or others, there are probably still costs that are not covered by these services and are a real cost to you. However if you do get aid from a "service" please indicate that so as not to unnaturally skew your (probably) low monthly cost.

Just to start things off I would put my monthly cost around $150 US, and I receive no aid from any outside services. I know this might sound a little low to some, but even though I wear protection 24/7/365 my level of incontinence is not extreme. Therefore I don't need to use expensive premium products all of the time as some here must.

my supplies are currently covered by Wisconsin Medicaid I do buy things like corn starch baby powder and baby wipes and if needed diaper rash cream otherwise I am covered

I just placed an order today and my total was $90.19. That was for a case of crinklz and wipes. I get help from Medicaid too. I was able to make it with just one case because I had some in my back stock. I just don’t know how to do this anymore. It’s killing me. I literally have less than $180 for the rest of the month.

I get mine provided from a government health care system who provide me with

4 diapers and 1 net pants a day.

If paying private or trough a medical insurance provider it'd work out at 100 euros a month or whatever that is in dollars, pounds etc.

I only use Depends pull up. Now a 84 pack at about three a day cost around $42 a month. Don't forget laundry cost for sheets and diapers. Any medical devices and medications.

Padded53,

Excellent follow-up. We can expect the NAFC to keep a close watch on the current conversations and put the information to good use.

Original investment in Afex System with back-ups, pads, cleaner, protective bed coverings for night close to $500. Monthly expense $100. Items must be phased out as they absorb strong urine smell. Washable items wear out and must be replaced.

Day time equipment is minimal and in a month replacement of portable urine container and odds and ends, is $50. Plastic collection container must be replaced at least monthly to manage odors.

Creams, powders, pads get used up quickly. Amazon and CVS are suppliers for all but Afex.

Daily laundry requires detergent and softenner and water and electricity.

It all adds up and there is no help from anyone.

180 every 6 weeks for megamax. 30 every other month for rash cream. Plus boosters So I guess that averages to around $150 per month

Other than washing and drying my diapers and plastic pants, and an occasional tube of rash cream, my cost is near zero $. I bought some cloth diapers over 4 years ago and they are still in good shape. Plastic pants are euroflex, which last almost forever. My supplier for diapers can't get them from their supplier, so I am screwed when I need new supplies.

Well I’m 4 weeks post surgery and 16 days without the drip bag, I’m still figuring out the 77 thousand dollars and change medical bill😬 I haven’t even thought about the on going cost to come. Yikes- I wish all of you the very best and much happiness.

I spend about $135AUD/ month or $105 American dollars for bedwetting. It can be more if I wake up wet during the night and decide to change.

My prostatectomy was on Sept 24, 2020, About 5 1/2 months on March 6, 2021. I probably have incontinence on a level 10 because of prostate cancer treatment, but probably only a level 3 for most people with incontinence.

My last measurement was that I was leaking 28 ounces out of 125 intake about 22%. (I am doing kegels, walking, pelvic floor physical therapy - this is a cost post)

Currently I am spending $110 on Northshore Go Supreme pullup to use while sleeping, Depend pullups, Depend pads, and trash bags (doggie poop bags, trash liners from Costco).

Overall, I have spent $1000 for supplies for 8 months of supplies. I was able to buy Northshore products during the holiday and year end sales. This does not include several products that I tried that did not work for me. I could not use the case of Poise Max pads that I initial bought because the perineum area was so sore and tender for 6 weeks. I am using these when I walk.

An additional large ticket items specific to prostate cancer rehabilitation

$125 mattress, chair, car seat protectors
$215 K-Fit Kegel Toner Tens unit
$250 Bathmate Hydro Extreme Pump (the extreme is has a hand pump)
$300 Vacurect Pump (do get the deluxe which basically has more rings - The regular is around $225)

$ 40 Lunderg confidence clamp - started using at week 13 due to not doing well with the stress of being wet all of the time. Every 3 weeks I do 2 days without clamp. I am now starting to only use the clamp when I drive somewhere (doctors, groceries).

$225 Out of pocket for 6 Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy sessions.

Add another $104 that I paid out of pocket for betterdrys I’m xl. I used the PayPal pay in 4 to buy a case from xp medical. It’s the only way I can afford it.
