Washing the dishes and peeing

Lately when I wash the dishes I start peeing. You'd think I'd know better. You'd think just one time would be enough to teach me. But there I am washing and suddenly standing in a puddle several times. So now I'm much closer to wearing my pullups 24/7. But sometimes I think wearing them all the time makes peeing without control happen more often. It's probably very psychological, but I can't go and do things without the protection. Is there some kind of balance?

I try to go every 2hours to bathroom where I need to or not. It seems to help me out. I still have to wear diapers 24/7. You should try going to the bathroom like I do it might help. You can still use your pull ups ass needed. When doing dishes and having the water running will make you feel like you have to go every few minutes. That's what happens to me, and then I have to change my diaper. Do the best you can and go every 2 hours ok.

You could try peeing deliberately in the toilet before washing dishes or running water for various.
thanks maymay. That does work sometimes but I often gotta go frequently and running to the bathroom constantly - well, I just hate doing that. Makes sense to do that but it's also an ordeal. It's like I am fighting the extra time it takes being an incontinent.

thanks, MR, i just get frustrated lately. doing that is an ordeal for me.. i spray all over so i need to sit down. then it seems like most of my time could be used up taking care of the body waste issues and not doing things i need to do. just frustrated now. i know there is a better way to look at it. thanks.

I go to a phiscal therepy for my incontince and she told me to sit instead of standing, and relax to. My idea is use your pull ups if it's hard for you to get to the bathroom. You can change after you got dishes done and go back to your routine okay 😊😊😊 👍

I experience the same thing when I run water occasionally just hits and I have no control hardly. I have just recently started wearing pullups 24/7 because I can't stop once start peeing just slow it down enough to contain in incontinence products most of the time. Get a little frustrated with myself from time to time.

If I stand in one position for any length of time my bladder just starts to empty uncontrollably and also does if I stand after sitting for any length of time.

I am 71 years old and wear pullups most days and either cloth or disposable at night. I like the ease of putting on cloth and plastic pants, my wife thinks they take too long to dry, she would prefer I wear disposables overnight.

but to the subject...I have wet running water in the kitchen sink. I think it is the water sound for me that makes me want. I wear the pullups during the day for dribbles and leaks.

I only have issues at night and with alcohol, but something that I found really helped was actually hypnosis. There are a lot of ones to help with bed wetting YouTube that are free. It got to the point that even a glass of wine and I would wake up wet. I went to the doctors and after years of testing they couldn’t find anything physical. So i tried hypnosis. And after the hypnosis it got a lot better.

I still have accidents. But if you want to try something on the physiological side, it can’t hurt?

New this is a great odeafor those of us , if whom there are many that trigger!
If tou know any youtibes that you particularly like please let is know

I usually get an urge. My daytime control is pretty good so I don't usually have an accident. If I happen to still be wearing my nighttime diaper and run water I usually end up going.

I remember when I was younger and my mom and I were both in denial about me needing diapers 24/7, things like that would trigger it. After a while, everyday there was even a chance of rain, she'd have another diaper waiting for me when I got out of the shower in the morning.

I think when you start wearing 24/7 it is true that you use them more...but you get to a point where it doesn't matter anymore. I need full tape on diapers 24/7 but it's not really like every single time I urinate it's involuntary (probably more like a 60/40 split accident/not accident)...but it's just not worth going and untaping a diaper every time...I've pretty much resigned to just using them all the time. Certainly I've probably not made my OAB any better and probably haven't done much but weaken my pelvic floor muscles, but I've long ago given up hope on any medical treatments working. It's just so much easier accepting my diapers and using them.

@Maymay941 hi Maymay. just an update - sort of. it does make sense - like you said - to make a point of going to the bathroom before going to wash the dishes but what often happens is that i actually do, and then within a short period of time like about a half hour or so i go and do something (such as washing the dishes) and as soon as i get engaged in that task i need to and start peeing. it has been more of a problem lately because i guess that by being home all the time now, i don’t wear protective underwear because it is easy to get to the bathroom on time. then the same as before happens, i get involved in a task and then the trouble starts again. i have found comfortable pullups, but not wearing them feels better. i guess i just have to be prepared in my protection even if i’d prefer to not wear them all the time.

@MikeJames i know what you mean. even with pullups i go to the bathroom and pee and then like i said above i get involved with a task like doing the dishes and start peeing. going back to the bathroom is more trouble than its worth. but when it comes to changing time, it still makes me feel like i’ve wasted the pullup because i could have run to the bathroom. i’ve got to get it into my head that even if i do have a small amount of control, it is better to just make use of the protection rather than being tied to the bathroom for every moment.

The sound of running water is a very instinctual trigger. It is used in toilet training children. I always wondered about those little decorative fountains supposed t bring relaxation in home decor for instance!
Sorry i posted a very garbled post earlier, i didnt reread to correct.

I feel you. When ever I hear water running it’s involuntary. Worse when my hands have warm water in them. I even lose control before I get to the toilet thinking about it.
I wear pull ups during the day and a full brief at night. I find that I can never relax my groin in the pull-up because I don’t trust them. I relax much more mentally when I’m a brief, although I’m always worried someone will know I am wearing a diaper. What a strange conundrum. You will figure out what works best for you!

@Arthur I've always needed some sort of protection at least some of the time since, well, forever. I remember that untrustworthy feeling with pull ups, knowing there was bound to be a mishap at any time. I'm not sure anyone has ever noticed, or if they did and just said nothing, besides when there's a malfunction.
