Urinary leakage

Is anybody out there suffering with p/u through the vagina. Three and a half years ago I had a hysterectomy which the surgeon messed up. He cut the ureter and I had to have a Ureteral reimplantation which worked for 9 months and then urine started coming through the vagina again. I've had scans and dyes put through but they can't find a leakage. They are now saying it is an overactive bladder and the only suggestion is botox in the bladder or a sacral neuromodulation. Has anybody else suffered from this at all. :)

I’m sorry that you’re dealing with this, Karen. Im a dude, so I’m going to be of little help to you. The only thing I can really offer is that you may want to wear some quality protection in the form of either a pull-up or a tab style diaper to stay dry until they can figure out how they can correct this. I hope you get some answers soon!!

I’m a male and had Botox done. It worked to well and I ended up having to catheter myself. The other option for me is Interstim, which I will not do. There are so many bad reports and horror stories with it. Have you been to another urologist to get a second opinion?

I've had two opinions, the first one suggested botox the other opinion suggested botox and sacral neuromodulation. I am a little concerned about the botox as I've read it causes UTI's which I suffer with constantly and the possibility of being unable to p/u normally, causing retention. I am meant to self catheterise but I fell down a flight of stairs a year ago and I cannot use my wrist very well, making it difficult to self catheterise. I haven't really read much about sacral neuromodulation (intersim) so I really don't know what to think about it.

Sounds like a Foley catheter would be better for you since they just stay in. That is what I used when I had to cath. Unfortunately, I couldn’t use leg bags because they would slide down my leg and pull in the catheter. I had to let it drain right into a diaper. Wasn’t really a big deal since I’m used to them.

I've made this same suggestion several times because it has worked for me.

I have been using an implanted Interstim for years now with great success. I used to have to pee about every 30 minutes during the night, and maybe every 60 minutes during the day. Those times have been greatly increased after the implant: 3 hours at night and 3 hours daytime.

I like that I am in control of the the device so that I can make fine adjustments as needed without going to the doctor.

The device I currently have carries 4 programs for me to choose from, but there are 95 other programs that can be swapped out as needed. I can change the amplitude (power) from 0.1 to about 9.9 on each program. I have had NO PROBLEMS!

The urologists must be trained to perform the procedure, so don't expect your doctor to do something he can't do.

God bless all of us who suffer!

Many thanks for your input. I am due to see the urologist next month so your thread was really helpful to go forward.

Okay I am going to go into an area that I would not normally go.. I am a guy. I am studying to be a Christian pastor.. SO with that said. I know that there are doctors out there that can fix this. Laverne Cox is an american actor that is LGBT. Born an man and transitioned to a woman. Point is that A doctor had to form her entire female parts, including rerouting her ureter.. Find you a good surgeon that does this kind of surgery and see what they can do.. Good Luck, If you had an american flag and not a UK. I would say hire a good law team and own a hospital but I have no clue how your laws work so..

Standard disclaimer, guy here, but what you describe sounds like a fistula to me (non doctor disclaimer too). Those are definitely fixable, but if you are peeing out of the wrong hole something's definitely wrong.
