Travelling is always kinda stressful for me and my upcoming trip to Anna Maria island with my family is no exception. I found a Walgreens on the island that does FedEx pickup so this Wednesday Im going to call Northshore and place an order for 2 packs of betterdry and have them delivered there. I plan on wearing a pull up through security (an abena l3) and changing once I'm through to an abena l4. My last trip I got a private patdown and had to declare what I was wearing (yay not being able to go through the metal detector/scanner!) While this is not the first time flying since my accident it is my first actual vacation. I'll be packing a couple extra abenas along with my reusable bed pad and disposable chux but I have to pack light too. Itll be an adventure!

I have travelled to the U.S. a few times since becoming incontnent and with a bit of careful planing it is not a big deal.

Hi Steve, how do you prepare to go through airport security. I shall be doing this for the first time since surgery caused my wetness in a few weeks time, cheers, Phil

Last time I went to the states I was wearing a tena maxi slip and Mylesta nylon waterproof pants. I had several slips, pants and cream etc in my carry on. It wasn't a problem. The security staff patted me down and never mentioned my nappy. They looked in my bag and never mentioned the slips etc. I guess they have seen it al before.

That's good to hear. I have two trips coming up. Stansted to Dublin with work and Heathrow to Orlando with my family. I hope to approach security dry, but with unstable OAB anything could happen in the queue.

Justej, Have a great trip! Before I retired, I travelled a lot; and I’ve been through airport security dozens of times while wearing a diaper. For short trips, I also carried diapers in my carry-on liggage. During security checks, I’ve often been patted down. One time, I was asked what i was wearing as underwear and simply told the agent that I was waearing a diaper; and no further questions were asked. No one has ever said anything about the diapers in my luggage.

I was in Mexico this past spring and going there and coming home I was not questioned once about the diapers on me or in my bag. I however did have to go through the scanner twice each time. I’m guessing because they want to make sure it was just a diaper and nothing else(smuggled in it). I don’t think any of us have anything to worry about with in regards to wearing protection, I’m sure they see that allot more often than we’re aware of. I will say that the TSA’s that I’ve come across are very polite and professional!! I never thought of ordering supplies and having them shipped to where I’m going, can you do this at any Walgreens? That is really a great option!!!!! I’ll be flying to Orlando next year for a vacation with some friends who don’t know about my incontinence and it would be nice to have some supplies shipped into the area to save room on my luggage.

While TSA probably sees a lot of incontenience products, there are too many "bad" TSA agents (in my experience) exercising their petty power. Not huge numbers, but they are there. Seems like they are the "indiscreet" ones, sometimes. I've never had that problem at a grocery store check-out line. I don't have to re-enter the country, much, anymore, so don't know how bad it is at known drug-smuggling ports of entry. I've had trouble going into Canada about once. Coming back is a different story.

I went to Canada a few years ago fortunately before I was incontinent. I have never met such a miserable security guy.

i thought id check in. im on anna maria island in florida with my family.
i wore an abena pull up on the plane ride here. luckily i was right next to a bathroom the whole trip so i made myself empty my bladder as much as possible.
once i was off the plane i changed into an abena l4 and we went to walgreens where i picked up a case of betterdry shipped from northshore. i also had a bed pad shipped. you can never be too prepared.
tsa didnt say anything about the pull up. i dont even know if they noticed. i have to get full body pat downs because i have a pain implant and im usually in a wheelchair. i have a private room and shared bathroom with my nephews but i always just change in my room and put my used diapers in a plastic shopping bag, then a scented trash bag and dispose of them daily.
having a great time so far. its beautiful here.
