The Man Behind The Curtain……Who Is NAFC??

Hello all! It has come to our attention that some of you may not know who or what NAFC, the organization behind this message board, is. We wanted to share some more detailed information about us, as we are truly advocates for all of you and have a host of resources on this site, besides just the message boards, that you can take advantage of.

What is NAFC?

NAFC stands for the National Association For Continence. We were started nearly 40 years ago as a private, 501 ( c ) (3) non-profit organization. Our organization is based in Charleston, SC, although our very small team works virtually across the country to run the non-profit. Our mission is to improve the quality of life of people with incontinence, voiding dysfunction, and related pelvic floor disorders. We hope to take the stigma out of incontinence, promote prevention and treatment, and motivate individuals to take action.

So, what does all this mean?

The website, nafc.org, is the hub of our organization. (These message boards are a part of that overall hub.) It is on nafc.org that we publish an incredible amount of information on the different types of conditions related to incontinence and other bladder and bowel health disorders. We also provide information on treatment options that are available for these conditions, tips for how to manage symptoms, videos and brochures to help you understand your condition, an ongoing blog that provides articles, tips and stories from people dealing with incontinence, and a newsletter to help keep you up to date on all of the above.

We also advocate on your behalf to lawmakers around the country to enforce quality standards in the development and reimbursement of absorbent products.

If you are struggling with a bladder or bowel health condition, this is definitely the place to be, and we encourage you to look around on the site to learn more.

Sign up for groups!

If you would like to sign up to be a part of the men's or women's only group, you can do so at the link here. Please note that adding people to groups is currently a manual process and therefore will be done on a weekly basis. Adding your name to a group will not prevent you from posting in the main forum.

Who do you partner with?

From time to time, NAFC partners with various organizations with like-minded goals. Our objective, first and foremost, is to be a resource to all of you, and the over 1.5 million people who visit nafc.org every year. We work with organizations that are looking for ways to get the word out about their products or treatment options when we think they will be valuable to you. We also work with organizations that are looking to recruit for research projects, as we support the advancement of treatment options that may help alleviate symptoms of incontinence.

Note that communication that comes directly to you from another member of the message boards or through an email is NOT from NAFC, and has not been vetted or approved by us. NAFC vets the organizations that we work with closely and will never sell or share your information with anyone. All partners that wish to communicate with our users must do so through us. If you receive a notice from anyone through these message boards, or notice a suspicious posting, please report it to the moderator.

Who funds NAFC?

As stated earlier, we are a private, 501 ( c ) (3) non-profit organization. We receive funding through donations from individuals who support our cause and who feel that we have made a difference in their lives. We also receive funding through grants from other organizations that partner with us on various projects and support our cause.

Excellent post and a big thank you to everyone who works behind the scenes to make this organization, website, and resources available to everyone.

Late but thank you for giving us a safe (as safe as it can get) way to communicate with others going through similar problems.

Hi! I recommend using QueSoft continence products. They're much thinner, cheaper and discreet, they don't even feel like you've got them on. You can order through their website at quesoft.com.au.

So sorry, I just saw this believe it or not. Very good post. Very informative and it has been Sooo! Helpful for me. Thank you, thank you everyone involved! - Pam
