Return of urine rash

Hi after about 18 months I have a recurring case of urine rash . Again it's bright red and very very sore all over my diaper area. I thought I'd seen the last of it especially with me being more than scrupulous with daily barrier cream and changing my diapers before they get too wet. I might change my Tena diaper about three times during the day and even go some time without wearing any protection , I just sit on a couple of absorbent bed mats. On waking first thing in the morning I am always very wet , so I shower and change into a dry diaper. Yet despite all of my best efforts I still get this horrible rash . I hate going to the GP about this, I get so embarrassed talking about my incontinence .
It can't be just me who has this problem , if not having any bladder control isn't bad enough I have to put up with this !!!

Do you shave your diaper area and drink enough water to be pee clear. I use Sudocrem. Never feel embarrassed otherwise incontinence gets you.

Hi , yeah I drink plenty of fluids to keep me hydrated , the barrier cream I use is on prescription from the GP and my continence advisor , it's zinc oxide based. I don't shave around my diaper area . But I do keep that area scrupulous clean, I am just urinary incontinent 24/7 . So I'm in a wet diaper just about all of the time

Do you air out, shower and change diapers regularly.

Hi thanks for the concern. I change my Tena slip more often than strictly necessary , meaning it's not always soaking when I change just wet , the only time it's soaking is first thing in the morning . Also I have learnt to have some time out of a diaper whenever it is practical . Put on plenty of barrier cream etc and still get this rash . Sometimes I don't know why i bother.

Sounds like you may have a fungal infection aggravated by diaper rash. They both thrive in warm moist areas. Sometimes tough to get rid of.

You’re definitely not alone in dealing with this. Skin irritation and rashes can be one of the most frustrating parts of living with incontinence, even when you feel like you’re doing everything right. It sounds like you’re already being really proactive with changing regularly, using barrier cream, and keeping up with good hygiene, so please don’t feel like you’re doing something wrong.

This is actually something I battle quite a bit myself, It shows up on the crease of my groin where the leak guards of my diaper sit(red spotty patches). Even when I’m doing everything I’m supposed to—changing regularly, using barrier creams, and trying to keep my skin as dry and clean as possible, it can still show up from time to time. It can be really discouraging when you feel like you’re doing all the right things and the rash still appears anyway.
