A lot has happened in the last 24 hours.

First, No PCP visits until July are open. Last time I saw PCP was in November of last year.

Second, I am having issues again where one week I hyper process my food (Ate at my aunt and uncles last night and started passing the corn I had less than two hours later)

Third, because I have not seen my PCP. I have not decided on the Instem test.

Fouth, My pain level is very high right now and I even have the shakes from last night. (Woke up at 7 am with a messy diaper first time in a while)

Fifth, I hope my insurance issue is fixed by the end of the day but Grrrr. Have not heard yet.

Lastly, Yea, I feel like crap... Pun intended. Passing food that quick is painful. And I am just really tired and feel like I have not eaten in days.

This sucks.

Have you tried getting in to see another PCP in the same practice/insurance? You are too sick to have to wait this long.

You have a specisl stomach and simply can't eat regular food everyone takes for granted

Corn is extremely hard to digest

You need to get a referral for a dietician and follow instructions. Sorry I know you love meats and junk food but you can't torment your stomach.
Your pcp must have another office that can access your records
Or does the physiotherapist or gsstro docs you consulted
Sorry man but you are a special situation and not for garden variety ER docs or probably most ordinary pcp.

You need to know what you can safely eat and then choose to eat right or suffer these types of consequences. It's not to judge or punish you it isa special situation and you have to take charge

I think your biggest priority is to get in to see a doctor pronto!!! There is no way you're going to be able or tolerate waiting until July!!! Do try for another doc at your pcp's practice or one who your insurance will cover. And barring those possibilities at least one in your town. Please take steps to see a doctor and keep trying until you get an appointment in a reasonable time!
I agree with May that corn is hard to digest and it does pass right through you without being digested. And her idea to talk to a dietician is also right on the mark!! It's up to you to find out what foods are safe for you to eat in order to minimize discomfort but still feel satisfied. Do find out how to make good food choices!!

May,
I have had discussions with both my PCP and GI doctors about diet plains. Nither one seemed to think that it was needed. Tomorrow at Physical therapy I am going to bring up the Sitz marker study again as my PHY is who told me about it and explain what happened last night as a good reason to go forward with that test. What worries me is that nothing seems to matter food-wise. I can eat the same thing every day and one day is crazy with diarrhea and the next I am bound up. (Now when I say "DAY" I don't mean 24hours) More like 12 hours with a lot of pain and only liquid diarrhea. But that leads to dehydration and a lot of pain. Likewise so does when Everything moves through my system too quickly like last night.

I am not stretching it, I started to pass the corn I ate at my Aunt/Uncles house just 2 hours after eating it. That is not normal. And I woke up this morning with a messy diaper which has not happened in a while.

I don't have any answers yet as to when I can get in to see anyone. Again, I will talk to my PHY tomorrow to see what she thinks I should do. Might have to stop at my GI doctor's office and see about her giving me a referral to see the colon doctor.

I just don't know anymore. One day life lazy river, next is a kiddy pool, and then all of a sudden my guts decide that I am in the deep end, and a mobster tired bricks to my legs.

The good news is my favorite park (Knoebels) is back open for the year so I might head there soon to hit some lazy rides. (I love their old trains and their grand carousel)

Going to Knoebels Park sounds like a wonderful idea. Being in nature and enjoying the rides can be so restorative, and maybe just what you need with what you have been going through.

I agree with May that corn is very hard to digest. I don't agree with the docs who told you that you don't need to consult with a dietitian. You are in danger of dehydration, losing electrolytes, etc.

I wish you the best with finding a doctor to see you soon, and with talking with a dietitian soon.

Going to Knoebels park is an idea whose time has definitely come! Those old trains in itself would get me to come there if I lived in that area!! I agree that thinking about that is a wonderful incentive to get some medical help and get on the right track, so to speak! Do tell your PT tomorrow what you told us that you have to get your body back in order and the best way is to see a doctor, be it your GI doctor or your PCP, but please see someone with a medical degree!! And no matter what the docs say, consulting a dietician would be wise as well.
I really hope you get to see a doctor very soon and that you can get your diet back to where it should be.

Sorry but medical doctors do no training on food nutrition and so will have nothing to say about it.
You can clearly see that a vone of cotton candy reacts differently in your system than a can of corn.

Knoebels is in Elysburg PA
391 Knoebels Blvd
Route 487
Elysburg, PA 17824.

It is about just over an hour from where I live.

Here is the thing with Knoebels... It is free. You don't pay for parking or anything except rides/food. That is what keeps it #1 in my book. The trains there are not your big old trains but rather small. But the mainline goes out into the woods and there is always some kind of wildlife there.

They hold multiple golden ticket awards for best rides, like the 100+ year old Grand Carousel has held the best carousel award for like 20 years (And it is one of the last remaining ring pull carousels in the world). They won awards for best food 2000-2011. They have two of the best wooden coasters and the only freewheeling bobsled coaster in the world. If that is not good enough, They had a huge independent study was done and list rides for sensory for people with autism.

I truly love it. Last year I could not go due to covid but this year I am no matter what.

Heck, I go just for food and to ride the trains sometimes before covid.

Yea got to get there. Might be a lot smaller than the Big FL parks but it has so much nostalgia that comes on it is free to get in.. and tickets never expire so... What is not to love.

Also, they have the best ice cream in the world and I will fight anyone who says otherwise. WOW... Sorry, could not help it. Started daydreaming about their banana splits.

Hi FlGuy, Having read about Knoebels Park now, if I'm ever in the vicinity of Elysburg, then I'm there!!! It sounds like a nice place and of course the trains will be the key! I assume these are miniature trains maybe??? Riding those would be a blast!!! And free parking.... and free to walk in, wow, can't beat that with a stick!!!
A few months before covid, we education volunteers at the nature center took a field trip of our own to the Central Florida Zoo in Sanford to see their new bear house and to talk about ideas for our program. It's a really nice zoo and they take really good care of the animals.
But out by the parking lot there is a miniature railroad that goes off into the woods and who knows where else? Well I vowed to come back someday to ride that. But then there came covid and you know how that goes!!! But having had my shots and with things hopefully coming back to normal soon, I'll revisit the idea for going back and riding the train. Of course seeing the rest of the zoo will be part of the plan as well as it's well worth seeing!!!
So I hope you can get back to Knoebel's soon!!! And when you do, don't forget to send postcards!!!!😊😊😊

So, small update. I will be seeing my PCP tomorrow. I messaged him and he didn't like the liver enzyme levels being that high. I am expecting to get labs done again and then follow up with him on messenger.

Also, have I told you'll how much I love my physical therapist.. She reached out and is working with all my other doctor's so everyone is on the same page. Looks like I may be see a colon surgery specialists soon.

Hi,

To me it sounds like a huge update! You are going to see your PCP tomorrow! You don't have to wait until July.

And the news about your PT is just grand!

Please insist that your PCP refers you to a dietitian for the help you truly need.

Thanks for keeping us posted!

Hi Fl Guy, you are on the beam now!! Good for you for seeing your PCP tomorrow and not having to wait until July! And that PT really sounds like a winner and a real keeper!! Sometimes it takes just one good person to get things moving as they should. And it bears repeating to get a referral to a dietician. It sounds like you did some work on your part and it'll pay off. Just keep up the good work and don't let your guard down!!! Just keep pressing until you see that colon specialist. We're rooting for you and everyone here is on your side!!!

I have GI issues too gerd, severe bloating that makes me look not only 9mos pregnant, but also demands that I pick and choose between eating or drinking fluids but not both each day.

Now I have been being monitored for diabetes as it runs on my father's side his mom had it and my father's been diagnosed with diabetes but only takes a pill daily for his. My grandmother had to take insulin 3 to 4 times a day. Now I'm told I'm borderline diabetic and being monitored via blood work with fasting every 2 3 months depending on if my blood sugar was up and how high up it was.

I've been to a dietitian a few times and given handouts and diabetes dietary book. Here's the kicker. I used to eat salads I used to get a side salad when eating at a restaurant they varied in portions at each place. At times I'd just eat my salad and take my main course dish home to eat later or lunch the next day.

The types of salads I used to eat are... chefs garden, and my favorite that's taco salad. Another weird thing was I could eat junk food and or healthy foods like salads or eat a rack of ribs or a 12oz steak or at an all you can eat buffet at golden corral or Chinese. Or a huge holiday dinner of all the fixins. And not gain any weight at all.

Now anytime I eat a salad either at home or in a restaurant. It just messes me up to the point that after a couple days after eating a salad my stomach swells and or bloats from being full of undigested food including the salad I ate and everything after until I vomit it all up.

I can't eat much of what the dietitian recommends me to eat any longer and it sucks big time. I miss my delicious salads.

I also have IBS mixed both constipation and diarrhea. There's many times I have both forms of IBS. I might have IBS d then IBS c my next bowl movement it's never consistent which sucks too.

So the last time I seen a dietitian I told him about my GI issues and how salads mess me up after eating a salad. Also certain fruits mess me up too so it's not just veggies.

Also told him along with my wife that was there with me. And my former GI Dr who's in the same building/ office. He verified my GI issues and said not everyone is alike and can do a healthy diet or eat fruits and vegetables. In his case he can't diggest the lettus certain fruits skin can't be diggested. So the GI Dr suggested I just eat what my GI system can handle rather it be healthy or junk food as in if my digestive system handle.

So this is what I'm doing is eating different fruits and vegetables as a long process of elimination to see what I can tolerate diggesting.

So following a strict diet isn't always doable for each person.

Small Update.

PCP ordered follow-up labs for next week. Thinks that I likely had an infection.

Does not what to mess with my diet, Is sending a note to GI to ask what she thinks.

PCP personally filed a notice with the ER over the meds that they gave me as they were something that is given (PCP never uses it) But people must be kept for 2-3 hours for observation once given it. He feels that the change of shifts messed that up and it was never communicated that I was given that to the relieving doctor.

So all in a good quick visit with PCP.

Last week I was bordering on a bowel obstruction. I could eat for several days and tried hard to get enough fluids in. My PCP is on maternity leave so I was dealing with a NP who didn’t know me from Adam. I finally got things moving. The issue was a diabetic weekly injection that bound me up. I’ve had various issues, including orthopedic and shortness of breath. I have heart issues that cause the SOB and the NP was focusing on that. I told her that if I went to the ER every time I had SOB, they’d have a bed reserved for me. I see my cardiologist next week, so I’m hoping she has some ideas. In the meantime, I feel too tired to do much of anything.

I do agree you should have been kept for a few hours for observation to make sure everything was OK. But the lesson here is a change of shifts is a hazard for someone who spends several hours in the ER as you wonder if the original doctor and staff mentioned everything that needed to be mentioned to the oncoming staff. I've been in that situation before. You've talked to the first group of people and you learn who your doctor is and you've told your life story once. Then the new shift comes in and you have to tall your whole life story again!!! That is aggravating for sure! And you hope the people on the new shift have the smarts to pick up the ball and figure out what the hey is going on with you! And then it's like you're reinventing the wheel!!! Deja vu all over again, as Yogi Berra would say!!
