Pelvic floor

I would also like to know if anyone has any experience with pelvic floor therapy. I have been too scared to actually get help anywhere, but I know that strengthening my pelvic floor would help.

Why are there not communities of people that do this together? It is so frustrating to not have any help.

What kind of incontinence do you have (urge, stress, OAB, etc.)?

Hey, I had my RP back in Oct so I’m 8 Months post-op. I started seeing a PFT about 6 weeks post-op and it’s been a game changer! In the beginning I was totally incontinent (stress) upon standing (always dry when lying or sitting down thankfully). She used biofeedback and taught me many different exercises to strengthen the pelvic floor. It is an awesome experience and so glad to say I am almost totally dry now in month 8. They say to give it 1 year and hopefully that will be the case. I am due for my 8th appointment this Friday. Where are you guys in the overall process? (Months post-op, etc)

Hi everyone, I have OAB, urge incontinence, uresis, and bedwetting. After not getting answers from my urologist and various medications failing I pursued pelvic floor therapy. Im a guy, and I found out there are much fewer PFT's that treat males for pelvic floor disfucntion. I lucked out and found one in my hometown however. I just ended an 8 week program and I am surprised how well it worked, even my bed wetting improved. Sitting down was fine, until I stood up, id get massive urges that I couldnt hold, and I'd flood what ever I was wearing. After learning how to regulate my internal body pressure, my urges are way more controllable now. I used to wake up wet every morning, now Im dry most the week. My day time accidents improved so much I can get away with pull ups or much thinner diapers, even pads on some days.

We covered behavior changes, practiced the mechanics of breathing, used some estim to activate the pelvic muscles, as well as core, pelvic and back exercises.

I'll be honest, yes, I was nervous and embarressed at first but she was awesome and very understanding. Made a joke about the floor being pee proof, LOL. Most of the time we weren't even in the main therapy gym, we were in a private room.

Everyone is different, my incontinence isn't solely due to my pelvic floor so it didn't fully resolve with PFT. It did give me more confidence to keep doing what I love and that having leaks and wearing diapers is okay.

I hope this helps you reach out and talk with a PFT, I wish I hadn't waited 7 years before going.
