Peeing too much at night time

For context I should say I had radical prostratectomy on 25 July this year followed by three months of incontinence. I then had too weak a urine stream (30 seconds to pee 100ML.) I had a urethra stretch on 29 November which enabled me to pee well however I was still passing a litre of urine at night in several visits to the toilet. Not a happy situation to be as very tiring. I tried drinking less, stopping drinking at 6pm, avoiding coffee and raising my legs in the evening. Raising my legs for an hour did help but was not a solution.

I then thought-instead of saying I have a problem urinating too much at night, why not say I have a problem urinating too little in the morning. I was barely peeing at all in the morning. Sounds great, but those fluids are accumulating somewhere in your body and are going to be released at night when you don't want them. At this point I realised that if in the morning I drank caffeinated coffee or tea that I would start to pee heavily in the morning, and would have less of a problem later. it is early days yet and I haven't abandoned leg raising or stopping drinking early evening yet, but the change of approach has already made a massive difference to my nights. I hope this helps someone, it may not help all cases of nocturia but it has transformed things for me. It has been a character building time.

Important insight to have reached. Thanks for sharing. Isn't it incredible how each of us have to have to discover the particular tricks of the trade that work for us. At least here we have a forum to share the knowledge. Hope it holds and improves. Health and peace

Agreed. Very insightful!

I was only drinking water, at first...and had issues at night.
After a while, I added back coffee in the AM, just because I wanted it!
My issues at night did get better...

However, I never put 2 + 2 together to get 4!

Thanks, for sharing!
