Outed by a 3 Year Old

Not quite the same as an adult experience but I remember when was 8 or 9 back in 1979 or 1980 and my sister who was 4 years younger outed me.

We were at the grocery store and for my bed wetting at that time I was back in night diapers. At the checkout the cashier joked to my sister that she looked kind of big to still need diapers. My sister was quick to point over to me and say they were for her brother. Unfortunately my mom just smiled at me and said "see? Maybe you should keep your bed dry at night"

Not fun experience but I understand the shameful feeling.

I was not outed but did have a few times when awkward comments that caught me off guard happened. Once was when I was in my early 20's and in college. I was at a CVS or some Rite Aid buying a pack of GoodNites. I was going on a trip to visit relatives in between semesters and needed them so that my relatives would not find out about my occasional bedwetting if I had an accident during the visit.

As I was checking out the cashier, an older lady, said, "must be a bedwetter in the family." I was like instant embarrassed and thinking she meant me and was like how does she know and all that. I stammered a, "oh yes my younger brother (or cousin, can't remember) still has some issues with it." She then said something like, "Tell him not to worry, my brother wet his bed till his was older too and one day it just stopped." I was like Oh okay, thanks.

It was awkward for sure. But she didn't mean any harm from it. just offering encouragement to my fictional younger brother/cousin.

Thats a medical condition in it's own right. I wet at night for seemingly no reason until I was about 17. I understand the stigma there too. Unfortunately I was only out of diapers for 4 years before I was injured, and had to wear them all the time instead of just at night.

I understand not wanting to tell her too though. Tbh it's still none of her business even if your daughter said that to her. I think you handled it very well.

I totally get this. My bedwetting started when I was teen, Just randomly out of the blue, no reason, no indicator, just randomly started to wet my bed ever so often.
