New to wearing diapers

Hi I'm an active guy now having to wear diapers full time. Looking for good quality diapers that are not thick and don't leak. Most stores the diaper leak or did not hold up or was noisy. I'm now wearing a tena diaper and women's depends pull up at the gym and under jeans but will leak just looking for some help thanks

For my urin incon I use NorthShore care supply air premiums for diapers and tranquility overnights for pull-ups. They are both a bit thick but nothing that works won’t be a bit bulky sadly.

NorthShore makes a thicker line of diapers that can probably take a lot more but they were way too bulky for my comfort but if I knew I was going to need many hours without a diaper change that’d probably be a tool to have in hand.

I have tried many cheaper brands such as depends etc., however, for the safety of leeks from around the legs, in my opinion, you just have no choice but to go with something like the Northshore supply air premiums.

Thanks looks like I'm going to be wearing bulky diapers don't need any leaks l will try the north shore ones I'm just not really adjusting well to wear diapers in public

For What It's Worth - I'm also an active guy, including conducting orchestras, sitting and playing for long periods, etc. Haven't tried all that's out there but, what works for me is Depends plus a liner. With only Depends, I can last about 2-3 hours. With the added liner, it's up to 5-6 hours and sometimes, during the night, more. I'll add that, at night, I can feel the urge and make a quick trip to the john, holding you know what. Also, with the liner, I'm able to, sometimes, just change it, a lot easier than going through the whole take-off-the-pants routine. Been on several 6-7 hour flights doing this, and it works. Speaking of pants, I'm had to adjust my wardrobe to include pants that can be taken off over my shoes. Sometimes, restrooms aren't the cleanest, and the ability to keep ones shoes on is a huge plus, plus a time-saver.

At the end of the day, we are all different shapes and sizes so what fits and works for one will not for the other. So I guess what it all comes down to is you finding a product that works best for you and what makes you feel most secure wearing. Feeling secure is I believe crucial. Good Luck

Hello there. Name is Joel. I have been living with Over Active Bladder for sometime now. I feel what you are going through. At first, it was hard for me to get used to the fact I have to wear diapers 24/7. I started with wearing the cheap store bought brand which you know leaks. I then started searching the Web to find better quality diapers. I couldn't believe how many companies and different brands were out there. I started to order single packs of different brands. I found out that the cloth like outer cover diapers weren't for me. As of right now, I wear Tranquility ATN, Abena L4, and Dry 24/7. Tranquility ATN's are great for wearing during the day. They can hold roughly 3 wetting before changing which depends on how much each void is. Abena and Dry 24/7 are more in price but in the long run they are worth it. There more bulkier to wear. I have yet to have leaks wearing them. The ATN's are a bit noisy. I figure I'd rather have noise than wet pants. At night I change into either a Dry 24/7 or an Abena L4. Never had any issues with leaks waking up to a very soaked diaper. There are some other brands that I have tried and don't mind wearing. These other brands are more for the ABDL community. The brands I am talking about are, Rearz, Tykables, ABU, and much more. They come with a hefty price. They are very thick and will make you waddle. For the most part, they can handle between 4000 to 5000ml of liquid. The outside of the diaper's have prints like Pampers baby diapers. We are here for you with any questions that you may have. Don't be shy.

I use cloth backed rather than poly diapers because I can reattach the tapes on those occasions when I do make it in time. It’s also easier to be able to refasten a few times when self diapering, maybe I’m just not coordinated or something but I still don’t know if I’m doing it right after a couple months.

I am 32 and used to use Tena supers as my daytime diaper. I agree with Newbie2this that the northshore air-premiums are good daytime diapers and is what I use now. They have a softer clothlike cover than the tena's and are much quieter. They also are white and have leak guards. Wonderful for my needs.

i use Dignity Compose by Hartmann. They are pullups and are pretty thin with padding so they are fairly comfortable. they have inner leg cuffs/guards to hold in what might otherwise leak out. i have not noticed a noise problem. i have both urinary and fecal incontinence. they are very accomodating for both. in the morning, on my way to work is often when i will have a fecal problem. i discovered that by placing unfolded dry wipes carefully inside, the pullup will remain unsoiled and the wipes easily removed and all flushed away. i have experimented slightly with heavery weight brands in the hopes for odor control but if that is possible at all i think i would have to be well bundled up and i simply cannot do that.

for me odor control is just cleaning up as soon after it happens as possible which i do immediately when i get to work. once i’ve cleaned up i still have the same pullup unsoiled. i then add a Total Dry Booster Pad Duo to line the pullup. these are ultra thin and fairly amazing. they are very comfortable, very thin and soak up very well.

i am in a deadline driven business and the walk to the bathroom is almost a half a block long. I see wearing protection for urinary incontinence at work something that will protect me on my walk to the bathroom, not a way of keeping it all for an extended time during the day.

when i get to the bathroom, i use toilet paper to soak up excess liquid in the pullup and booster pad. i also repostion the pad so a part that is still dry is in a good location for catching more pee. If the pad is close to being completely full i replace the pad completely. this is where the ultra thin quality comes in very handy. an unused pad fits easily in to my pocket. i also bring a small sandwich bag - also easy to carry. the wet pad can then be carried to a discreet place for disposal.

i did what was necessary to soak up excess liquid and now have a new dry pad inside. this is not a perfect method. liquid is liquid and always tries to do what it naturally does. but i hate being heavily wrapped up. if i don’t take care i might have a leak. leak or not, i have always gotten to the bathroom for a change or adjustments without big trouble.

i do spend a lot of time throughout the day taking care of my body waste and this is troubling to me. but this method is what i find to be the best. the qualities of feces and urine won’t change. i don’t want either close to my skin for long periods of time. i have a career and must work daily and i hate the heat that builds up so as light as possible and as frequent a change as possible in my opinion is what is necessary. between the pull up and pads it is less expensive than wasting heavy weight protection.

the pullup brand, Dignity Compose and the booster pad brand Total Dry Booster Pad Duo and the dry wipes which measure about 12” x 15” unfolded are the only thing i have found to handle my needs. my waist size is about 34” the pullup size is medium. you will have to experiment with size. but the medium works perfect for me.

when i am careful, i can do several hours without a leak. less careful maybe a small leak. i have been caught up in work and had a larger leak. to me, that is my life. i’ve tried abena, tranquility, and that space age one and they are so heavy and i just waste them and hate them.

there are many others that are thin but do not have the inner leg leak guards and they don’t work. store brands do not work at all. in my mind, if you are thinking you can go all day with comfort and carrying all that stuff with you, something might work, but do you want to carry that stuff with you - particularly if you are at work?

i use nothing at night. i always wake up just about in time to make it to the toilet. i may leak a bit on my way. i just clean it up.

So this is what and why i use what i use. it isnt an alternate life style, it is a condition due to physiological problems. of cours you have to stay on top of the situation all the time. it seems like bundling up would do the trick, but it doesn’t for me. I think it pays to give my method a try. and decide which way you want to go. if you need any more advice on the particulars of how i do this, please feel free to ask, any time. sorry for the lengthy message. i just believe in my method so i hope you can give it a try and find that it works.

I'm extremely active and live with full U/I. During the day, I can rock an ID Slip Maxi (from XPmedical.com) or a Unique Wellness Original (from Amazon) without detection for about 4-6 hours without leaks.

Although, after 10 years I also have no problem wearing one of the following beneath gym shorts or slacks, because nobody will ever notice but you:
BetterDry with Abrilet Stuffer (from Amazon)
ComfiCare Dry274 with XL Contoured Diaper Doublers (from Northshore)
ID Slip Super (from the UK) with a Tranquility Booster

The latter combinations will last you 12 hours, with some form fitting underwear to maintain potential sagging or tapes coming loose. For that, I use the Abena Diaper Cover Underwear (https://www.xpmedical.com/xp-abena-abri-fix-soft-cotton-fixing-pants-config)

Let me know if you need any additional help with suggestions. I'm 10-years in to my full time procurement, and 20+ years in dealing with nocturnal enuresis.

Best of luck!

Just wanted to up date. I started wearing the abena l4 and north shore diapers both work good and no leakage yet. As I found out both make sounds when walking but I can deal with that and both are bulky. I just got larger jeans and pants and really can't notice them thanks for all the help and support

I wear North Shore supreme with Suprimpants and plastic pants over.Only have to change twice in a 24 hour period.Don't have to take off jeans to change.People are to selfabsorved in themselves or their phones to notice you are wearing a diaper.

I totally agree with you. It was hard to get used to wearing 24/7. It didn't take me long to figure out that people don't pay close attention to the things around them anymore. They are more involved with what is going on through a hand held device. Crazy how such a little device can control a person.

It took me 4-years to come to terms with it. Now I could care less and while I dress to be discreet, could care less if my shirt rides up when I reach or bend over. The more casual and respectful you are, the more people will act casually and respectfully if they even notice.

Tye medical makes a wonderful adult diaper. They are costly but worth it. When I can't afford them I just go with assurance at Walmart.

I work construction and we only have port a John’s and it’s hard to change in them and also hard to sneak a diaper in to change with out anybody knowing I wear diapers / embarrassing
