Good morning. I have not yet, somewhat, introduced myself to all. About myself. I became urinary incontinent 10 years ago from contracting a severe UTI due to BPH (enlarged prostate). Without knowing that it had been somewhat blocking the flow of urine I had developed a severe UTI that had turned into sepsis. Bacteria had formed in my bladder and went into the bloodstream. Was fused to the hospital and was minutes away from going into what they call “Urosaptic Shock. By the time I arrived at the ER I had a temperature of 107 degrees. Was in the ER for hours having tests done. After four days in the hospital they had come to a conclusion that I had a severe bacterial UTI caused by sepsis. I almost died. The day before I arrived at the hospital I wasn’t feeling well. I made an appointment to see my PCP. After the examination they had concluded that it was just a viral bronchial infection. I was tested for the flu and Covid which came back negative. I was aching all over. So went home to wade it out. Went to bed that night and woke up to use the bathroom. Got back into bed when all of a sudden I began shacking which progressively got stronger. I also started hyperventilating too. Something was wrong. I could not stop. My wife then call the rescue. It was around 4:00 am. They arrived and took my vitals. They then said I was going to the hospital. Moving forward to this day I am urinary incontinent and where diapers 24/7/365 to managers it. I no long can hold the urine. If I do I can contract sepsis again which did happened once or twice since released from the hospital. I have a strong antibiotic that I keep in case I start feeling of the UTI returning. I also have to see the doctor before starting the drug to see if I do have a UTI. a quick test. I manage the incontinence by wearing disposable diapers and gauze diapers. You get used to it. Never embarrassed. You learn to get by with the medical condition. Knowing that you are wearing some kind of protection to keep your clothing and bed dry makes it better. I am hear for support for those who need it as well as receiving it. There is nothing wrong with wearing diapers to protect yourselves I get my cloth diapers from ALLTOGETHER/ADULTCLOTHDIAPER COMPANY. My disposable diapers I get are from Northshore Care Supply (MegamaxDiapers), Tykables, ABU, Kiddos, Incontrol, and others to name a few. Plastic pants are supplied by Protex Medical and Babypants mainly. I also use AMAZON to purchase SUNKIST disposable diapers. Any questions feel free to ask. Thank you.
