Low energy, a lot of time in bed.

I am hitting 12+ hours of sleep every night. Just don't have any energy. I get about two hours standing total each day right now and then I am done, wiped out.

Worst part is that I am having a lot of trouble eating because every time I do I have a lot of pain after.

I actually was in bed for over 16 hours yesterday. Just could not stay awake.

My surgery follow up is on the 13th and I am going to talk to the doctor about what is next.

@ritanofsinger

If I still feel the same tonight I am going to call my PCP office in the morning because it has been like this a few days. No energy, fatigue, not wanting to eat and a lot of pain.

Try to force yourself to get vertical, and if you have a blood oxygen meter I would definitely keep an eye on it just in case.

As soon as you can see your surgeon or before, please mention your issues and keep an eye on it. This sounds like it is making life very difficult and you need help as soon as you can. I hope either you feel better soon or they get you answers sooner.

Hi FlGuy, I echo everybody here in that it is imperative you call the doctor first thing as soon as the office is open, or even call the answering service and leave a message. Although today is a holiday if you still feel sick then maybe try to get to a walk-in clinic but you do need to see somebody. I hope you feel better soon and maybe your surgeon can see you before the 13th.

@ThatFLGuy Before you had your bowel surgery, how did you feel? Like, did you feel similarly, or worse, or not as bad?

@justej @snow

I still feel a bit off. I talked with my mom as well as a family member that works at the hospital I go to. I am likey still getting diverticulitis attacks and the medications is keeping it a bay but not well enough to not have attack symptoms. I am going to be watching today and if It get worse after I eat then I will be going to PCP or the ER/ED as then my gut will be full to give them a better understanding of what is going on.

I did get out this morning at feeling sluggish but not like I did, but I just got my first shot of the vaccine so that may be part of today's feeling. I already have my mom on standby to take me to the ER/ED if I get worse after I eat.

Also, I know about what a real diverticulitis attack feels like but now it always clears out. The last few days have been different though. My Bm's were going to change after having the botox but it has been weeks since that. Now I feel like I am not getting anything but the medication out so I am getting backed up and that always leads to feeling sick and a diverticulitis issue is never good.

BUT, every time I go to ED/ER they just do a CT give me pain meds, and send me home without telling me what to do or even if I am having a diverticulitis attack. So, I am a bit like, 'Why waste my time." It is a 1 1/2 hour drive one way.

If I get to bad then the ambulance is only a $40 ride with my card or my mom will take me and I will not wait tell it gets that bad.

Hi FlGuy, I hope it doesn't come down to an ambulance ride and if you have to go see someone today try to ask the doctor if you're having a diverticulitis attack; come home with a definite answer if possible.
It's also possible that you're reacting a bit to your first vaccine shot, especially if you usually have a reaction with other kinds of vaccine. Feeling tired is one of the signs after a shot and since you've been under the weather anyway the shot may have exacerbated it a bit.
Hope you feel better soon!

@billliveshere

Just got the shot an hour ago. I have been feeling tired and not having BM's like I should for a few days.

@ThatFLGuy That all sounds like hell. I’m glad you have access to an affordable ambulance at least. You’re correct that the ER is largely useless except for super acute injuries, accidents, and infections. It’s largely a disappointing experience.

Good job on getting the vaccine; it’s definitely the way to go and I think you’ll find it’s a big relief! I really hope you don’t have COVID again; it is pure evil. I hope nobody here ever gets it, especially badly, though of course the odds are some of us will. Sometimes when people go missing from this forum I wonder if they were sick (dead, egadz!) with it. I hope the vaccine doesn’t make you feel worse. I didn’t get sick from Pfizer but that could be because I had already had the ‘Rona so bad and for so long. Perhaps since you’ve also had COVID, you won’t feel the vax, either.

Children now account for 50% of the cases in UT since school went back in session just 10-14 days ago. So scary.

Feel better.

$40 for an ambulance ride is not bad at all!! Around where I live in Lake County, FL the going rate is $600 and the nearest hospital is only four miles away. And even with insurance you're still responsible for over $250. And a cab ride to the same hospital is only $13! And of course don't forget to tip!!!

The advantage of arriving at the ER in an ambulance is supposedly that the EMS can get you on IV's or something on the way and get you right in to the ER. But when my husband had a heart attack at 1 am, he asked ME to take him to the ER 1/2 mile from our home. I did and the ER still got him right in. Another time when he had one of his friends and I take him to the ER, we were waiting in the room where you wait for a bed and Bill passed out. One of the attendants yelled for help and several of the staff came running, lifted him and lo and behold they found a bed for him right away and with all the CPR, IV's etc, he was rescued. I think they do the work they are trained for and often beyond. I have nothing but praise for the EMS though. When Bill was in the hospital with a viral and bacterial virus and was coughing up bloody mucous a doctor released him from the hospital, saying he would be all right. I took him home, into the house and he passed out. I was scared to death for him. I called 911. EMS took him back to the hospital. From being released to back to the hospital was one hour. The ER nurses said Bill should have never been released. When an administrative person came to talk to me about the hospital re-admission charge, I told her I wasn't going to pay. They never billed me and neither did the ambulance!

@billliveshere

So it is actually only $20 and it covers for 3 rides per year. my area of Pennsylvania is very small so are local fire department is all volunteer. The ambulance is part of a co-op service that is kind of volunteer but they get funding from the state because we are that small of a town that sometime they go days without a transport. My uncle and several of my other family members drive for the service and the way it works is that the medics are paid hourly but the drivers are paid per drive but at higher rate that what is normal for most jobs like that.

Hi FlGuy, Now that you mention it, I remember that was how it was in Pennsylvania when I lived in Montgomery County near Philly. There, the ambulances are run as a co-op service with volunteers who were fully trained and accredited paramedics and attendants.
That was different from Massachusetts (where I lived before) where the ambulances were run by the town fire departments.
When I first moved to PA with my family, we found out about the Ambler Community Ambulance Association where you paid a reasonable yearly membership (forgot how much it was) and got a certain amount of rides per year. Fortunately we never had to use their services but it was nice to know who to call.
A good friend of mine worked for quite a few years with Ambler Ambulance and received paramedic training. He worked up in the ranks but after awhile he got disgusted with the politics in that organization.
