I had robotic radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer. 10 weeks have passed. I am dry at night. During the day at home, I have mild leaks throughout the day. However, when I go for a walk, I experience an active leakage of about 300 ml.

Do you think everything is on track? Do you have any recommendations?

10 weeks is still quite early. I had a robotic RP last March. Dry at night very quickly, leakage quite bad initially but improved gradually and by about week 12 to 14 I was getting by with one medium weight pad per day. Key to all of this were the pelvic floor exercises. I did a series of PFEs 3 or 4 times a day. It’s now a year since my RP, I’m virtually dry, although I might sometimes have a small leak if I cough or sneeze and so wear a lightweight pad during the day.

Hey mate you sound if your surgery was 2 weeks before mine. I am now 8 weeks post op and honestly, I am over this incontinence s##t but reading others on the forum has helped but everyone's experience is different. Like you, I have always remained dry through the night and sitting or lying down. My biggest issue has been getting out of the chair or bed and this is when I have to fight the squirts and leakage. Also, when standing. Part of my Recovery has been walking. At first, I leaked all the time when walking but now it only leaks when I start my walk but then slowly stops. I did an 8klm walk last week and the only time I leaked was when I stood still. I actually feel my best while walking. I try to do 2-6 klm daily if I can but here in Australia where I live it's been raining a fair bit lately so not getting out as much as I like. Until just over a week ago I showed no improvement but now showing some improvement but felt like 1 step forward and 1 week back. Today has been my best day yet with being able to get out of bed, up of the chair and out of the car a couple of times as well, without leakage for a couple of hours until I went and did my shopping where it just wanted to start leaking again. I have been doing pelvic floor exercises as well as some physio work for the pelvic region and today I didn't leak once during my exercise which was a first for me. All the good today might go backwards again tomorrow. I saw my Surgeon on Monday for the first time since leaving hospital. He said we all heal differently and could take up to a year even. As I am 69 it probably takes longer for me than a 50-year-old. No surprise this has been same advise I have gotten from other from this forum. Now I have to return to work next week and am concerned of leakage just as you are about your walking. What you could try as I am about to do is use an external catheter and leg bag. At least I won't have to worry about excessive leakage, as at this time and moment we just have to do our exercises and continue on our healing process and then our leakage should come under control. I hope.
