Just over a month post-op... a roller coaster

It's been just over a month since my prostate surgery. I have found this to be a roller coaster because I thought I had the incontinence under control, yet I have encountered a couple significant surges. I went to my follow up visit to get the low down as to if my restrictions were lifted, but decided to point blankly ask what all of the literature in my discharge packet was; especially the information on a TURP, which I find out that the hospital where I had the surgery done refers to the green light ablation as a TURP. The urologist informed me that I did not have a "scissor procedure" so it was not a TURP. Yet he only left just enough of the prostate to keep the sphincter intact. Pretty close to a RP, I would say. I feel like I never got a straight answer from day one, and here I am hoping I don't have a leak while typing this thread. Fortunately, pads are helping protect from surges, but I was promised the pads would no longer be needed within a couple weeks.

On the bright side, I'm not retaining anymore...

It's been about six months since I had the same procedure (HOLEP), and your description could have been my own. I had regular bleeding for about 6 weeks after, but I seem to be over that. I still wear light pads when out and about for unexpected leaks. Like you, my flow has improved significantly, but my bladder only holds about half as much, and I am unable to feel it filling until I get the sudden urge. As an unexpected benefit, my PSA went from 6.0 pre-surgery to .49 post. I think he took out about half. I was expecting to get more info at my 6 month follow up in January, but was just informed that my provider is no longer accepting United Health Care for any all appointments and services. Not only do I lose the knowledge and care of my current team, but I'm left scrambling to find new doctors. Health care for profit. Argh!

Mam

Not wanting to rain on your parade but, I had a {HOLEP} June of 2021 and I still leak.
Dr. took 80% of my prostate. I have improved on the leaks some of late but, still
wear Attends and usually change once a day. Dr. says I'm in the 1% that has problems that long.
Keep on doing the Kegal,s and take your Meds hopefully you will not be in the 1% like me.
