Incontinence and UTIs

I'm not sure that being incontinent will necessarily cause UTIs. I used to get UTIs because I have a suprapubic catheter for my incontinence. I think the bacteria causing the UTI gets in through the catheter entry point. To prevent UTIs I used to take 10mg Nitrofurantoin per day, but have reduced it now.

I have accidents frequently and I also get UTIs pretty frequently. I don't know if it's coincidence or if there's a connection. I do know that when I have a UTI, I'm at a much higher risk of wetting my pants so there's that

Main cause of UTI with incontinence in my case was catheters and Botox (puts me in full retention).
