In Person Local Support Groups

Is anyone aware of local, in-person support groups? Something like 'incontinence anonymous'?

I'm finding nothing in my area. Maybe there's no demand for this stuff. I would love if there was a weekly group that met at a hospital or church basement or something with bad coffee and donuts where people could get together to discuss and offer ongoing support....

Just wondering if any of you guys are aware of something like this in your local area....Can't find anything in So Cal.

I've looked quite often for the same and come up with nothing. So far this forum is the best and most active thing I've found.

I know of no in person support groups whatsoever. There might be a demand, but nobody willing to organize, and people very hesitant to show up to such a thing in person.

@spicewerx this forum is pretty active, and there are a few other online groups that are also pretty active. There is a good one of Facebook, closed and private. A couple on Reddit, the most active of which I moderate. Also incontinencesupport.org has a decent forum.

yeah it's a bummer...I would totally show up and kind of want to look into organizing one.

Might see what the process is like at my local hospital, or see if a church has space....I bet it would be easy to set something up on facebook to get the word out.

@MikeJames Years ago (about 1982,) I saw an ad in the local paper that a gentleman ran, organizing a support group for incontinent men at a local hospital. I responded and after about 6 weeks, he contacted me to tell me I was the only response. There was no group, but we talked on the phone and met for lunch. I kept in touch and he did make contact with other incontinent men but nothing was ever organized. After a couple of years, he called me to invite me to a gathering of incontinent men in someone’s home. I accepted. About 15-20 guys met and it included men with only an abdl interest. I as very comfortable there and it was great to be with other incontinent men to share information and hear each other’s stories. I got an enormous amount of information and any shame I had about growing up in a diaper evaporated pretty quickly. We ordered pizza and we all brought out one drinks - soda, beer - and had a wonderful time.

If you are willing to host an event in your own home and you’re in a metropolitan area, you me have success. Good luck.

@MikeJames I don't think we have anything like this in the UK either, I have found this forum a great site, cheers Phil

An on line forum called support groups/bedwetting has some followers of all ages. They offer advice and suggestions.

It's listed under support groups, which will bring up a ton of different groups. Then you need to scroll down to bedwetting.

@artiejr support groups where? What website are you referencing specifically?

I know there is online.Supportgroups.com, but there are lots of sites with lists of support groups.

I once joined a 'Meet Up' group on-line, and there was supposed to be an actual get together at one of the community centers here in Ottawa, but I was the only person who showed up. As I recall, (this was in the mid 90s) either they had no actual booking for the group, or I didn't have the courage to tell them what the group was about. I probably just called it a 'Meet up group', but they couldn't help me and I never went back. I'm not sure I would have the courage now.

I made a mistake on bedwetting support groups. I reversed the web site. Try bedwetting/support groups. I think this will get you there. Sorry for the confusion.

@artiejr

That's still not a web address, but at this point I assume you mean,

Is that correct?

I don't know of any in person support groups in my area or even region. However I am sure I will be doing some mt bike or kayaking trips next year. I'll post on here when I do in case anyone wants to join me.

Perhaps the forum mods here could set up a subfolder at the top level of the forum where interested users could open threads about their specific city or region and arrange some sort of groups that way complete with this site to connect all the groups together.

The Cleveland Clinic had one many years ago about bedwetting. About 25 people showed up. This was mostly geared to children, but many adults attended. This was held at their Willoughby Hills campus in Ohio.
