In Desperate Need of Supplies

Hello everyone. I recently had to switch jobs due to COVID19. In doing so means switching health insurance. So now I have to switch doctors and medical supply companies. Its going to be at least 5 weeks before my first shipment will be mailed out. I have called local churches and the diaper bank and they told me the primarily only have baby diapers. I was wondering if anyone out there could help me with some diapers, or know where I can turn next, to get me through till my supplies kick back in. I wear the tape tab style briefs in size xxl or XL and can back shipping if need be once I get my first or second paycheck.

It's a broken system.
I suppose the Food Banks don't carry them, but as a last resort?
Try Salvation Army/Good Will/ and other charities like that. Maybe churches, maybe the pastor? Ask if they have any ideas. Maybe not yard sales, but estate sales?
I'm not sure, might depend on which state/county/city you are in, but what about Social Services? I suspect Social Services paper work might take until the end of the year and consume a forest, but maybe where you are is better.
I'm reaching here, trying to brainstorm with too little brain. Hoping someone has some to donate.

Hi TylerH, It sounds like you need supplies now and not tomorrow! I think, depending on where you live, of course, that thrift stores would be a possibility. Obviously if you're in a bigger place there would be more of those stores within an reasonable driving distance. Most have very reasonable prices on supplies but the big caveat is do they have your size and style you want. Most of the thrift stores in my part of Florida are more likely to carry XL or XXL rather than other sizes. They may have only one or two packs available but hey, that's a start! Do you know a nurse at your doctor's office who seems to be empathetic? Start by talking to her. Don't worry, she's heard it all before so please speak up. After all that's her job! Other than that, just keep checking this site when you have a couple of spare minutes to see if anyone comes up with ideas. Let this site know how you make out!

I agree with several above, thrift stores, goodwill, salvation army. Usually $5 a pack is the most I have seen them priced. Facebook marketplace might be a good place to check(already mentioned above too but I havent tried finding them there).

Agreed, check out the thrift stores. $5 bucks for a bag or box of protection is great even if it’s not always the ones you are used to.
Towels also work as a last resort if you have something to pull up over them or put under it

Please direct message me. We should be able to assist with a diaper bank or some other NorthShore solution. We're always happy to help.

I think NS Adam's company is truly in the people business:D and is not run by a bunch of bean-counters. May all companies that deal with our needs have that attitude!

This is why i like this site: someone always will to help, come up with ideas, help in general. and support.
Make sure you tell your nurse & doctor to recommend this site.
Try for a donation, if you can. I'm sure even $10 dollars helps, even if some commercial types help. It probably helps keep the commercial types supporting us - especialy if you tel them you heard about them here.

That is a great idea to tell the online vendors if you've heard about their places here. After all every little bit helps!
