Going from Medtronic Interstim to Axonic

Greetings,

I have been away for months. It's nice to be back.

During the spring I had an Interstim implant (my second) which failed because the lead was too short and pulled out and stuck through my skin.

In June I had a second device implanted and after three weeks it migrated and stopped working. I was out of the state of South Carolina until October and simply powered the device off with input from the Medtronic rep.

On Nov. 14, I'm scheduled to see a urologist who implant Axonic device to help with my condition, OAB.

Does anyone here have experience with the Axonic device? FWIW, the advertising I have seen shows women as the patients. I'm happy to here from anyone who has experience, but if there are men here (or their spouses) who would like to respond I'd especially appreciate it

Thanks for helping.

Dear Fleemoore,

It is my understanding that the Interstim implant is for overactive bladders...not for men who have had their prostates chopped out and are totally incontinent such as I am. As you probably already read, I am scheduled for the AUS implant which is supposed to be the gold standard of incontinence devices.

My best to you in this battle,

Ron

Thanks Ron...I am seeing my urologist on Thursday to discuss an AUS implant. I will keep you posted!

My experience has all been with a Medtronic Interstim, and I haven't had the problems you've had with it. That said, please keep us updated on your progress with the new unit. I hope it works well for you, and I'm very interested to hear of your experiences!

Like what @itapilot has said - I'm curious how axonics works for you as well.

@fleemoore: I had the interstim trial and found success with it; but I lost my health insurance before I could fully go through with it.

It's nice to see more people on the forum who can relate. How is your day going?

Blessings,
Honeeecombs

I'm, Honeeecombs, that your health insurance wasn't able to get you the help that you needed.

My day is going fine, thanks for asking.

I'm looking forward to learning more about the Axonic product and the qualifications of the new urologist. I'll share more after my appointment on Nov. 14.
