For the bedwetters....

So, as I have posted before I have an issue with bedwetting. Happens sporadically. Could be one to two times a month or once week for a while.

So my question is, how do you deal with bedwetting and protection if you are not wetting every night or sporadically like me.

For me, at home there is a mattress protector then a quilted waterproof mattress cover on the bed. Then the sheet. Finally on my side of the bed a bedwetter's bed pad. This way my wife can sleep comfortably like normal on her side and on my side there is the added bedwetting protection. On the nights I pee the bed morning clean up is only the top bedsheets and the bedwetter's pad. Course my wet sleep clothes too 😝. But you get it.

So, for those who sporadically wet the bed how do you protect your bed?

I would wear a diaper to bed, that's what I usually will do! You can order the best diapers off of rearz.ca or Abuniverse.com or bambinodiapers.com these diapers have the best protection ever and they do work!

What bed pad are you using? I've been using peapod mats for the last year to catch any leaks the brief misses. It's Terry lined so it's comfortable

Much the same as you, bed pad, mattress protector, and if I have drank anything more then the normal amount, I wear and let the chips fall, or drip in this case, where they may. I won't lose any sleep over it anymore like I used to, not a big deal to me now, took a while to get to that point though. I have to remind myself it could be much worse!

Bedwetting has become the norm for me. Every night I slip into a nice thick diaper. I actually got it down to a science. No leaks or blow outs. Dry 24/7 with boosters or Tranquility ATN with boosters. I've been in the bedwetting industry for many years now to where it's now a routine. I even have to wear diapers during the day. There are many of us out there that have the same problem. We all take it day by day. There is really no leader but your own. You need to do what's right and stick to what you know that works.

Hi Nocans. I am using this one off of amazon. RMS Reusable Absorbent Waterproof Sheet Protector Underpad for Bedding 34x72

Works really well when I have a wet night and fully comfortable for the other nights. I don't eve realize I am sleeping on a bedwetter's pad.

I use a large washable bed pad and I wear a diaper. Better dry, and dry 24/7 are great. NorthShore Care is the best place I found to order from. Very fast shipping, discret, and excellent prices.

I agree with Beemoneyprovo1,more expensive but use much less. With plastic pants bed and chair pads everything stays dry.North Shore is good place to go for pads.

Unfortunately my neurogenic injury occurred when I was newly single, 3.5 years ago. Nobody is going to want a new partner who wets through multiple diapers and bed pads every night. I’m only 42 and severely depressed at the reality that I’ll be sleeping alone for the rest of my life. A combo of very high doses of Oxybutynin (which rotted through all 28 of my teeth in just 2.5 years!), Myrbetriq, and quarterly Botox injections help, but not enough.

Reading through these forums I’m surprised to read how few members have their worst leaks at night. I thought that would be more common for Severe OAB sufferers and those of us with neurogenic bladder conditions. Now I feel even more embarrassed that my worst problems happen at night.

I’m so sick of waking up at least five times every night to pee and/or change a wet diaper, bed pads, and fitted sheet. I’m exhausted. I can’t find a doctor willing to prescribe the only medication that keeps me asleep for four or more hours: Ambien. Doctors are so afraid of the potential of being sued by an Ambien abuser that they basically just don’t prescribe it any more. I get enough to sleep for four nights every month. How am I supposed to choose which four nights (out of 30) I should prioritize for sleep? What about the other 26 nights of the month?

I haven’t slept for more than a couple of hours concurrently, in over three years. I usually wake up to pee every 20 minutes. I’ve tried small and huge doses of Trazadone, Gabapentin, or Benadryl. They don’t help me sleep better - neither does the anguish, depression, and anxiety I experience because of this reality.

I may try Vasopressin, though I’m scared to impair kidney function because I was born with HyperInsulinemia, so my kidneys have been stressed my whole life. Also, since my injury, I take thousands of milligrams of both Tylenol and Aleve every day to combat the crippling pain in my lumbar spine, where I no longer have any discs or disc material, and instead have bone spurs and a 17-degree scoliosis curve to the left. Without high doses of NSAIDs, I can’t do much of anything in life. NSAIDs are very hard on kidneys, so I don’t think it’s a good idea to take a medication that’s going to decrease the fluid (urine) the kidneys have to clean out the entire body.

I’m a new member. Do you have any advice for sleeping better with severe Nocturnal Polyuria? Do you have any advice about how to cope with the shame this brings to any dating situation? I’m in therapy, which helps a little. It doesn’t help enough. I used to be an extrovert but now I dread leaving home for any reason. In your experience, did you become “used to it” eventually?

Thank you in advance for any wisdom you may have to share. I welcome your assistance. I feel so overwhelmed and alone with this grief.

I know from when I have a catheter fitted that I also pee more at night than in the daytime. Without a catheter I wake up about every two hours because of OAB. The best solution I have found is to wear a heavy duty nappy, slip out of bed to pee into the nappy and then get back into bed before waking up properly. This night time routine means that I no longer share a bed with my wife. All very depressing, particularly as prostate and bladder surgery has left me with impotence as well as severe OAB. During the day time I prefer to wear thinner nappies and change them every few hours. What I have found on my numerous visits to hospital is that there are always other people worse off then me. I try to keep this thought with me and try to be thankful that I'm not in an even worse state. As for wearing nappies, I have got used to it and know that no one can tell. Sorry that I haven't got a magic cure, but I think it does help knowing that you are not the only one.

Get a good night diaper like better dry. I have a Foley catheter that drains into a diaper and I sleep right through the night.

Get the abdl adult baby diaper lover, diapers.. They have more absorption! Plus they're comfortable and durability is really good too!

Not everyone likes the AB/DL printed diapers. In fact none of them I know of perform equal to or better than the better dry diapers. NorthShore has a decent selection as well as good prices and discreet (and fast) shipping.

Why would they want an abdl diaper? They are extremely expensive, dont perform any better than premium diapers, and the majority have fetish designs on them. Which whatever but most people dont want that.

Betterdry's are the best for bedwetting IMO. I used to use Confidry, but the Betterdrys seem to perform better while lying down...especially if you are a side sleeper.

Molicare Super Plus were the best for me, but they were discontinued. I've seen conflicing information on their new product and I can't tell if they're plastic or cloth backed. I really liked the plastic, but everything seams to be going to cloth. Anyone else know anything about this or what I should look for to get the plastic version. I'm using the unique wellness superios in the mean time, but they're not as comfortable.

Rearz.ca or bambinodiapers.com or Abuniverse.com are ones that I know that will always have the plastic backing on the diapers including special needs essentials attends.com

@snow I know about the night time issues, waking up etc. I for awhile used an intermittent catheter at night for relief and then regular indwelling caths. I cut the ends/flapper out of the leg bags and drained in a diaper ( flapper prevent infection). not recommended really but it lead to some discussions with a doctor about how this created relief. I eventually had a sphincterotomy and bladder neck incision - while I now have no control and drain constantly, the relief has been immense. I too have a neurogenic bladder from lumbar spine/nerve issues. Most of the bladder spasms are gone and I sleep much better. Oh and get a back brace, makes a difference for sleeping (I have a tlso with thigh cuff) good luck
