Excessive night time voiding

Hi,
New to this forum. I have a major issue of voiding at night (up to 12 times per night and up to 64 ounces). You all know I'm sure how this affects sleeping or lack of it! Exhausted during the day. I had been on oxybutynin for three months (it did help to 5-6 times per night) but recently it's crazy. Also on terazosin which helps with quality of flow. I don't have BPH. 6 months ago urologist talked about urolift procedure. At our last teleconference I told him the urolift didn't sound the right way to go. He agreed. I the discussed with him the idea of looking into his antidiuretic hormone therapy. He agreed it might be something worth looking int although he admitted he didn't know enough about it. He suggested I start a voiding diary to capture my voiding history and see him in 3weeks. I can't wait three weeks at this point and will push the date. My PCP is also concerned and I will talk to him this week. As a side not, I am so fortunate to only have one bathroom on the first floor while a sleep on the second. I have been using bicycle water bottles over the past thirty years as urinals (perhaps TMI, I apologize.)It just seems I have no shutoff at night. Any others have looked into ADH?
Thanks for listening. At the end of my rope

How do you do during the day? Iget the urge to go when I get 1 to 2 ounces in my bladder. Normally void 3 to 4 ounces. I don't drink much fluids and go up to 20 times in a 24 hr period. I've done meds, nerve stimulator and botox. Nothing has helped. Do we sound similar?

Hi Hubbard,
Thanks for your post. There is something not working right for sure. You need to get in and see your urologist so they can see what’s going on. Do you ever get swelling in your legs during the day? It sounds like this is happening mainly when you are laying down? Then your kidneys are kicking in to get rid of excess fluid? Could be many things but you definitely need to get a work up done. Sometimes a frequent urination can be a side effect of meds too. See your doctor, have them do a full work up of your blood and urine and see what is the underlying cause.
Hang in there and get a good overnight diaper so you can get some sleep in the mean time.

Botox helps me immensely, when I can afford it. Sleeping is the worse for me. My urologist talked to me about taking Vasopressin to turn off my kidney and bladder function at night. But I take a ton of NSAIDs and Metformin so I’m scared of messing with my kidneys any further. I would like to see a nephrologist to find out more about Vasopressin. Does anyone else take it, and if so, does it help? I’m also not interested in the bloating it may cause if kidneys are shut down.

@snow I took it for a while. It did stop my kidneys, but it didn't stop the signals to my brain telling me to wake up. Like you, I take a number of meds and decided that this one wasn't needed. Phil

Snow,
I have used the Desmopressin (Spellcheck?) for a number of years, but I use it very sparingly because I’m on a lot of different meds for my Knees, Lumbar Spine, and Cervical Spine injuries. It is a wonderful relief valve, especially when I want to spend time with my wife without worrying about protecting EVERYTHING!😄
I’m very reluctant to use it more often as I don’t want to damage anything else at this point. I make sure to flush my body with plenty of water afterwards and there is a payback! Once everything is back on line it it’s like a non-stop faucet for a day while everything settles back down. For that time with my wife it’s worth it! Not something I’d use everyday though.
Best of luck as always!
