If there is anything I could recommend to those suffering from bladder problems. Is to not be afraid.
When your curled up in your room alone; because you feel isolated from the rest of the world. Don't be afraid.
When you have to talk to your doctor and share embarrassing information due to the truth in your bladder or bowel condition. Don't be afraid.
Painful and Humiliating tests at the urologists? Don't be afraid.
I once was afraid. I was afraid of the world. Culture. And how others would view and stereotype me for my bladder condition.
Now; I'm not afraid. I'm liberated. I'm free. I feel that I can take on the world and be okay with having bladder control problems. (For the most part).
Bladder Control Problems have shook me to my core. Having to deal with PTSD and dealing with the effects of my emotional and mental trauma while suffering from a physical ailment was not wrong - but brave.
If there's anything I can recommend to anybody on this forum who is just starting bladder control issues or continence issues in general - don't be afraid.
People will mock you for your condition. You may feel humiliated at the hands of others. You very well may be talked about for your condition by others friends or family.
But shame on them! They know what hurts not; but you do know the score! The body keeps the score.
If you are a man coming here post prostate surgery; or a woman coming here to share her pain of continence issues; or even a family looking for assistance with a family members continence issues.
Don't be afraid, tell them not to be afraid, and if you are a person who thinks lesser of those with bladder and bowel issues, read our thread, read our hurt.
Be a different person than you were when you logged on.
