Confused/how to manage

Damp

I may have read some posts addressing this issue, if so I aplogize. My incontinence is so unpredictable that I find it difficult to decide what approach I should take. There are days and nights that I stay dry, then there are other days and nights that I may have 2-3 wetting episodes. These can be quite significant. I never can decide in the morning if I should just put on a diaper just in case, or take my chances. It seems like quite a waist to throw away an unused diaper.

I just got samples from Incontrol. What I found was that I really like their plastic back velcro diapers. They are a lot like the discontinued XP5000 I tried for a bit. The Velcro makes it easy to undo one side to go to the bathroom. They also hold up well, so I can take an unused one off, shower, and then put it back on with no problem.

Also, they offer free samples now with free shipping so never hurts to try something new.

An unused diaper is never a waste it is always best to be protected take it from someone who has been in your shoes.

I can relate to this dilemma. I wet the bed as a child and again as teenager. As a teenager it was not every night maybe 3/4 nights a week. But this was enough for our family nanny to suggest that I wear a nappy to bed every night. Back then it was terry nappies and waterproof pants, and I would be changed into a nappy after evening bath time. If I had a dry night, a dry nappy was a bonus! I was still in nappies at night aged 14 but was then dry until I suffered a spinal injury in my mid 20s and started to wet the bed again. Initially my bed wetting was 2/3 times a week but over time it became every night. I saw my GP, a urologist and was referred to a specialist nurse continence adviser. Having unsuccessfully tried meds, she advised that I wear adult nappies and that I could get supplied by the NHS. Given my past history this was no big deal and precaution of wearing every night far outweighed the embarrassment of potentially wetting the bed. Further issues with my spine led me to start to lose bladder control during the day. Again initially not all the time but now 24/7. Again I took the precautionary view that it was better to wear adult nappies during the day too. Pull ups were never absorbent enough so it was tabbed adult nappies from the outset.
Better to be safe than sorry and be grateful for a dry day/night!

That’s only a cell that you can make. Yes it’s a waste to discard an unused diaper. Have you been completely diagnosed for a cause?
