Can someone share their experience about getting an artificial sphincter please.

Also, please provide names of 3-4 best urologists for artificial sphincter in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania area.

Thanks in advance.

Can’t help with the second part, as I live in SW Florida.
I had an AUS implanted on March 28th. Prior to this, I was soaking 4 to 8 adult guards a day, more if I golfed, and had been for about 5 years since my radical prostatectomy in 2017.
Since then, I might wet one light duty depends mens shield per day, maybe 2 if I golf. It has been fabulous.
The surgery was a breeze, recovery was a bit challenging because I ripped the stitches out of my wound(big mistake on my part), and all in all, I couldn’t be happier. It really makes life easier. I’m the kind of guy that not a whole lot gets me down, but having wet “diapers “ all day long was really getting on my nerves. I’d leak every time I stood up, etc. Now, I stay dry most of the day.
I’m not 100% dry all the time, but I would say at least 95%….. Would do it again, without hesitation.
Hope this helps. Best of luck.

Around a month I’d say. I had the other problem with the surgical wound, but the device itself was activated after 3 weeks and just a couple days later I felt like a pro using it. Watch YouTube videos. They were really eye opening for me……and helpful.

JohnAdam, look at the left column on this page, choose "Search", enter "Artificial Urinary Sphincter". Many of us have shared our experiences on this topic. I'm in New York and my surgeon was Neil Grafstein, Mt. Siani Hospital,NYC.

After 6 weeks turned on with excellent results. No incontinence and only some leashing when coughing or sneezing.Surgery and recovery were easy.Procedure took about 40 minutes and was in hospital for 23 hrs.Surgery done by Dr Murphy at Washington u medical school

Forgot to add that I am between AUS docs in Phoenix and Tucson as we speak. Going down to University of Arizona Cancer Center in Tucson tomorrow. Check with the Boston Scientific rep to give you an idea how many AUS surgeries docs do in your surrounding area do
