Hello,

My name is Honeeecombs; Im 27, and have been suffering from bladder urgency and enuresis.

This will be my last post for a while. Ive been trying to get my bladder issues off my mind; and since it brings me down talking or thinking about it - im focusing on my hobbies, life skills, and spirituality.

But anyway, this post isnt about me. Its about anybody who is looking to come to the NAFC in regards to getting help with treating you or your loved ones bedwetting or enuresis.

As someone who grew up with bedwetting, the first thing i would recommend is handling with care. Its great that we live in a society that has destigmatized the ugliness and seclusion of being a bedwetter - but those who are older; know that those feelings when fostered in another culture - do not go away.

Its not your fault. Its not your loved ones fault. Thats probably the most important thing i can say in this post.

I would strongly recommend seeing a medical specialist before you just put a band aid on something that could be fixed. In my own case, i have OAB and Urgency. Its basically Secondary Onset Enuresis in a young adult male. My bladder doesnt understand or has weakened due to the amount of urine it can hold. I take a medicine called Myrbetriq for it, and it works very well.

For youth and young adults who are suffering and unable to try conventional methods I would recommend researching into the Bedwetting Treatment Center in Michigan. They are good people and have a high success rate. They will treat you like a human being.

In regards to products - Northshore online is really FAST and discreet and there customer service is awesome. Adam is a really nice and knowledgeable guy too. For anybody with someone who is suffering; look at Northshore branded pull ons and reusable underpads. Dont settle for a traditional tabbed brief when Goodnights or Depend products do not work or have been grown out of.

There are ALOT of options. They don't have to be diapers...

Again, all of this has to be handled with care. Also, if your a young adult or adult who is wetting the bed or struggling to make it to the bathroom - don't be so hard on yourself. If you keep dwelling on it, it will eat you from the inside out.

I know that sounds kind of overdramatic; but it got me thinking because every so often even on the medicine - ill have sporatic days where i just cant stop going. Its a pressure that never goes away. An urge that makes you want to relax because you feel like your stuck in gym class under 50lbs of free weights. Its hard to explain...

But until you experience it; you wont understand. But thats also my case with urgency. Everybody is different!

Hmmm. What else to say before i go. I think i pretty much covered everything in regards to enuresis.

I know its embarassing, and quite frankly for someone with an upbringing and growing up with the condition - it is something that is extremely deep to deal with when it resurfaces or suffering with in general.

Just know, there are people in this world just like you, that are talented, kind, and are no different for having to manage something they don't have control over.

I'm the worst at taking my own advice - but i hope that this will help someone in this world feel better about themselves in this world, or even help a family or caregiver help solve someones problem that makes them feel a shamed or alone.

You're not alone.
