Always bedwetted at night

I have always peed the bed at night, sometimes multiple times in one night. I have tried everything- no drinks after 5pm, no caffeine/citrus/carbonation, DDAVP, the wetness sensor alarm clock, waking up every 2-4 hours. Literally nothing has helped except imipramine but sometimes it makes me really sick. It’s not psychological they say (I have PTSD/anxiety), not hormonal, not due to diabetes. My bladder was examined along with seeing if I can expel all my pee, I’ve had my kidneys, liver, pancreas, abdominal aorta, and bladder ultrasound and everything was normal. I’ve had the CT scan of my abdomen done and it was normal except my appendix was on my bladder instead of my side so they removed it, and when they did it had a stone in it? Like a calcium deposit. I’m a 21 year old female and even with medications I can still pee the bed and it’s super embarrassing. Has anyone ever had this? What could they find to be the cause?

Hi Renae, so sorry you have to deal with this and we are here for you!! My issue is muscular, after a motorcycle accident at 30 I have been urinary incontinent since and has gotten worse with time!! Mine started mostly at night and just bad urgency during the day but as time goes on my UI(urinary incotinence) has increased to day time as well. I wear a diaper almost all day and for sure all night long and have tried many many products out there and have found a way to manage it as there is no cure for my UI. If you are looking for a cure this r better management of your UI keep talking to others and keep asking your Dr and other Dr’s for help!! It’s such a struggle to stay positive with this but it can be done with a system to help manage until you can find the cause of it and hopefully get the cure you need!! Stay in touch and remember we are here for help and support!!

My ex-wife had this issue. It seems like you have done all that you can, perhaps you need to just accept yourself the way you are and wear protection. Beating yourself up for something you can't help is pointless.

Its not easy to go through all you have, and I have mostly also, ( I didn't do the sensors) I admire how you have push to find answers, I will say this, as I don't have answers, but you continue to ask and look for them. I feel you are doing your best. I do know I'm glad your here, maybe someone can give you some answers.

Some people are in too deep of a sleep to feel the urge to go if they don't have normal REM cycles where they go to lighter sleep every couple hours. If you're impossible to wake up and often sleep through alarms then this could be an issue. Sometimes this is missed in sleep studies because they only look for sleep apnea or if you get much longer than normal sleep during study then when at home.

There are enuresis coaches than can help guide people through resetting your sleep pattern. It takes 6 to 12 months and involves using a wetness monitor with alarm that wakes up someone else nearby to get you up to bathroom at first sign of urine, if you don't wake up from alarm yourself. If you get woken up enough times right at the correct time, eventually your body will train itself that it needs to be alert at those times instead of staying in deep sleep.

Note: Don't try this without consulting doctor first.

See a sleep specialist. My primary issue is bowel due to childbirth injury and IBS, but I started wetting the bed about 3 years ago maybe 1-2 nights a week. I also knew that I was having issues with snoring because my husband let me know. I saw a sleep specialist, had a study done and did find out I have obstructive sleep apnea. Now I sleep with a cpap machine and the wetting went away thankfully after a couple of months. So if you’ve tried everything else, see a sleep specialist.
