6 months since RP

I had RP on January 2. Catheter came out on January 22. Since then i have religiously done kegel exercises and after 4 months, the doctor referred me for physical therapy. Now at almost 6 months since Catheter was taken out this is where i stand. At night i am still getting up 2 to 4 times. When i pee, i output between 8 - 10 ounces. When i am sitting and have to pee i output 4 - 5 ounces. When standing, if my bladder contains anything above 2 ounces, i have to pee. This has not changed from the very beginning. My question is has anyone experiened this type of thing and if so, does it get better with continued exercises?

A lot depends on how much you drink.
I had my RP last November 21 and I do drink a lot so I often have to go pre. But now if I stop drinking after 6pm I usually have to get up to or around 12:30am and am usually good until 6 am….. But if I drink bc anything at all past 6…. I am up to pee once or twice during the night.
After the surgery i was up 3-4 times a night but it has gotten much better lately.

I am hoping one day to sleep a full 8 uninterrupted 8 hours but I bc am not there yet.

The leaking after surgery was also very scary at first and not really explained properly but now if I leak during the day it’s just a little bit and I am using only thin pads…. Such a relief……. Will see what the future brings for this also!

Good luck on your journey!

It does not matter how much I drink, the urine output is always the same. I too, try not to drink much after 8 pm.

I was up several times a night after the operation. Cut out caffeine, fizzy drinks and alcohol, all are bladder irritants. Also as others have said don't drink late at night before going to bed. I did this religiously and now I am only up once a night and that could be early morning, say 6am. I have now relaxed a little on the strict regeme. I am dry at night. Unfortunately, I can't say that during the day. When doing heavy work, on my feet a lot, gardening etc I tend to leak a bit more. I have found the external catheter arrangement good on days like that. I am now 2 and a half years post op
