workout diapers??

So I have been working out a good deal lately and feeling much better for it. Ive been sorta getting around the bladder issues by not drinking water for a couple hrs before the gym and maybe taking one or two sips during. My bladder is no longer happy with this “compromise” and I need a solution.

I’ve tried depend real fit and they don’t really work that well but they are pretty discreet under gym shorts. Im just trying to avoid wearing a fitted brief under gym shorts and t shirt to a shared apt workout room. Not really wanting to let the neighborhood know of my oab.

Any ideas?

Hi, maybe self catheterise before you go to the gym, that way, your bladder will be mostly empty and you might get away with wearing just underpants and shorts for an hour?

Hi I also have tried the depends and had no luck with them. I normally wear the XP5000 diaper but it’s not very easy to hide under gym pants. I have found that using tena poly diapers to be the best for me thin and hold up very good. I can blend in when wearing leggings or sweatpants to my pt appointments and don’t have to feel uncomfortable or embarrassed. Hope this helps you out.

Newbie2this I agree that working out with incontinence is problematic. I play pickleball for two hours in the morning, and a thick pad within a Depends absorbs what I need absorbed. But I'd love to go inside the fitness center and shower after I'm done. I just can't see them wanting "Jack the Dripper" in their locker room, and I admit to being reluctant to put on a new pair of Depends in front of a whole bunch of other guys after a shower. So I stink up my vehicle and drive home to shower. I keep waiting for that miracle day that happens to other post-prostatectomy patients when they say, all of a sudden they've healed and it's no longer an issue.

newbie...,
Sounds like we have a "new" member to the crowd. Since my partner and I are about to wrap up our field trials for our external control device (see picture with my profile) and given your frustration, i'd like to invite you to be a late comer to our volunteer group for testing our final design. Basic thought is to impede the leakage rather than deal with it. Our patent-pending device is soft and flexible meaning it does allow leakage under stress conditions, but setting it to a higher impedance level for a shorter period than all day will definitely improve the situation. It may allow you to use a liner in the size of your choice rather than the diaper routine. More info is available if you email me at amhelp@comcast.net. Best wishes. Fynlee

@Newbie2this Have you tried Depend “Night Defense”? There’s still discreet, but are plastic backed in contain 2 to 3 times as much as any other Depend product.

@Newbie2this Mayve wearing a “onesie” over a bulkier diaper can help you feel more discreet.

@donegatf Is there a law in the mens’ locker room that you can’t change in the toilet stalls, or can’t wear swim trunks in the showers? I’ve never felt comfortable walking around naked around anyone, so I never have; when it’s time for me to do the changing part, I do it in a toilet stall and I wear a swimsuit when showering. Nobody looks at me weird for it.

@Fynlee Newbie is not a newbie.

Lol. I never really put thought into the username when I made it hell I was pretty optimistic that docs could fix it. They said they could. Lol. Anyway here I am 5 yrs on. Wowza.

@snow No I doubt there are any rules in these locker rooms to restrict our privacy concerns. I was raised in a culture where men changed and showered together after gym classes or workouts without shame or fear. Nudity in front of men is not an issue for me. We typically store our gear in a locker, then go shower somewhere nearby, then come back, dry off and dress at the lockers with lots of space and dry floors. To carry it all to a shower stall, or to a toilet stall just doesn't work for me.

@Newbie2this - I've had to do this as well and it is a distraction. As I workout for 1-2 hours, I didn't need a super absorbent product or something for extend wear.

What worked for me was a multi-approach with

1) 'try' to use the toilet at points during the first part of the workout (seems the most unstable) and before cardio for sure,

2) there are times in the day that I would leak/oab less (afternoons) and that is when I worked out, and this was when the gym is less crowded.

3) there are many thin pull ons that are OTC or can be ordered. For instance, Always (unscented) works for both genders, Molicare, Abena 0s or 1s are great for short periods.

Clothing - My gym wear included tight(er) fitting yoga shorts w/ loose dark colored gym shorts over. Reasoning: to keep things discreet and support/flatten the rear end crease.
