Where to Start?

I had a prostatectomy three weeks ago and had to wear a cathether for one week before surgery (due to prostate blockage) and two weeks after surgery to make sure bladder neck was healed. I do not have any control over urine flow. It is a continuous leak/drip.
I have started to do Kegels, but some information is confusing. Three sets of ten per day seems to be the recommended amount. There are some warnings about overdoing them, so I don’t want to try to do more than that.
Also, when I sit or lay down for thirty minutes or more, and then stand up, I have flow which I capture in a handheld urinal. At this point, I can start and stop the flow two or three times which I thought was good- it was my first sign of some control. However, some websites say don’t do this because you are training your bladder incorrectly. So, this part is confusing. Anyway, does anyone know of a program online that discusses ramping up the Kegels, and whether to stop and start flow?

I’ve seen a number of urologists over the years who recommended that I do Kegel exercises. None of them ever mentioned that doing too many Kegels would create any problem.

I saw a urogynecologist, who referred me to a physical therapist for incontinence. The PT told me NOT to do Kegels for the problems with my bladder. I agree with artiejr: best thing is to follow up with your doctor to get more info about your body and what you need.

@Holden8285 Hi, I am not convinced that doing kegal exercises helps even though my doctor disagrees. He also recommended the same but not overdoing it, according to some write-ups from the internet.

Leaks happen when I stand up and difficult to control or stop it. The doctor says I need to hold for a short while and delay the release of urine. I tried but it just oozes out and I don't have control over it.

Now I am using the Conveen condom catheter with a leg bag and after using it for almost 3 months I am accustomed to it now. I feel quite normal and quite frankly I don't have to worry about holding urine.

I saw improvement during the night and do feel the urge to urine and dripping is under 30 ml throughout the night. Only during the day, the leak is uncontrollable. Hopefully, I expect to be cured within six months naturally.
